JOEY-A, PARiS © JOEY-AOn his sexy debut single “PARiS,” Cleveland-bred musician JOEY-A introduces himself to the world as a force to reckoned with.

Remember the name folks: JOEY-A.  Who? According to the ‘LOVEViBE’ musician himself, he’s:

A songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist from Cleveland Ohio.  I came up heavily immersed in the Cleveland music scene, and have been fortunate to travel the world playing music.

He details more in his bio, but the excerpted portion alone paints the up-and-coming musician as winner – certainly an artist to watch. A fan of Prince, Justin Timberlake, and Pharrell Williams among others, their influence is reflected in his own work.  Even so, he needs no comparisons.  On his debut single “PARiS,” JOEY-A, alongside co-writers Andy Love and Damien Lewis, has crafted a gem.

The thought process behind “PARiS” was to create music that was sexy and visceral enough to make you move, while deep enough to move you.  Indeed, he checks off all boxes.  From the jump, “PARis” opens exuberantly, anchored by an infectious, hard-hitting, danceable groove.  That aspect alone covers the ‘move’ part of the record’s conception.  Keying in on the production work, it’s superb – slick to the nth degree. Big drums, rhythmic electric guitar, and synths – what more is there to ask for?

Beyond the backdrop itself, JOEY-A has got a set of pipes on him. From start to finish, he delivers a compelling vocal performance.  On the verses, he allows time for things to percolate. Even so, it’s clear he’s on autopilot from the jump:

“She’s dipped in gold / She likes it fancy / Drinks pink champagne / As her hair falls down.”

Ahead of the money chorus, on the pre-chorus, the listener is blessed with a dash of falsetto.  A blessing it is indeed, as he sings, sensually, “This thing is automatic.” Ooh la la.  He then proceeds to laud his “Paris”:

“My Paris / Ooo / My Paris / Mon amour / My, my Paris / My, my Paris.”

Final Thoughts

JOEY-A continues praising “Paris,” who’s definitely bad – the best and sexiest way possible.  All in all, this is a terrific debut single.  There’s many reasons why it’s successful.  It’s sexy without being distasteful.  The production is spot-on.  JOEY himself showcases a high level of musicianship as both a writer, producer, and vocalist.  Even with his accomplishments, he shows incredible humility:

JOEY-A is not a project about me, it’s about us.  It’s about embracing the unbelieving power that music has to influence people.

How can you not like this guy? #WINNER.
