Up-and-coming pop heartthrob Jake Miller strives for breakthrough success on “Good Thing,” the second single from forthcoming EP, ‘Overnight.’

Jake Miller is looking for his breakthrough.  The up-and-coming singer/rapper returns with EP, Overnight, due August 19.  Previously, he released single “Overnight,” where he solely relied on his pipes as opposed to his rhymes.  Second single, “Good Thing,” likewise, is fully sung without any rhymes whatsoever.  The results are successful, all in all.

“Good Thing” gives Miller another smooth urban-pop infused joint. Danceable, the record sports a contemporary R&B groove, definitely a trend with many pop male artists as of late.  Miller’s vocals are clear.  It is sensually-driven like “Overnight,” sans the obstacle of breakup and makeup.

Plenty bodes well in Miller’s favor.  The chorus is catchy, clearly “pop gold.”  Miller has plenty of swag, strengthening is package as an artist – he already had the looks working for him. This song – and likely the entire EP – seems aimed at Justin Timberlake and Nick Jonas school of pop.  Ultimately, it is a good look for him.

Final Thoughts

Slickly produced, “Good Thing” is a pleasant song all-in-all. Miller has an appealing voice.  While it’s not necessarily “heads and tails” above the competition, it’s respectable and sound.  “Good Thing” won’t “blow anyone away,” but it is good.
