Gucci Mane, Nicki Minaj, Make Love © AtlanticGucci Mane returns with “Make Love,” a hot new single from his upcoming studio album.  Nicki Minaj guests, showing out and ultimately, out rapping Gucci.

Gucci Mane continues to be prolific following his extended prison sentence.  2015 saw the “East Atlanta Santa” drop three albums: Everybody Looking, Woptober, and Return of East Atlanta Santa.  2017 looks promising for Gucci once again, as he drops a new single, “Make Love” with none other than Nicki Minaj.

The production work suits Gucci Mane’s sound.  The trap is alive and well, thanks to a minimalist sound that still has oomph.  He slices right through his verse, keeping it 100.  After a confident verse, he drops a chill hook:

“I’m makin’ money like I’m makin’ sweet love / I wanna make love, love, love / She say the women make her wanna make love / Wanna make love, love, love, huh.”

Following the hook, Nicki Minaj gets to work, changing her vocal infection, cussing like a sailor, and giving no fucks. Despite excellence and consistency from Gucci, Minaj steals the show without question.  The minimalist production and hard beat are perfect fuel for the fire.  She’s definitely confident in her greatness:

“B*tch I’m the greatest, no Kendrick and no Sia / I’m the iPhone, you the Nokia.”

Beyond the clever reference to the hit song, she takes a punch at Remy Ma, supposedly.  Neither MC likes one another, with Minaj insulting her status in the game:

“Ooh, oh, you the queen of this here? / One platinum plaque, album flopped, b*tch, where?”

Ooh Wee! Nicki doesn’t stop there.

“I took two bars off just to laugh / You see, silly rabbit, to be the queen of rap / You gotta sell records, you gotta get plaques / S, plural like the S on my chest / Now sit your dumbass down / You got an F on your test.”

As stated above, Nicki Minaj out raps Gucci on his own track.

Final Thoughts

“Make Love” truly has little to do with sex… Gucci flexes (“Damn, who colder than me?). Nicki shuts it down (“I rep Queens where they listen to a bunch of Nas / I’m a yes and these b*tches is a bunch of nahs”).  This isn’t totally new from the ATL rapper or his partner-in-crime, but it works out sensationally all in all.
