The Chainsmokers, ‘Closer’ ft. Halsey © Disruptor/ColumbiaThe Chainsmokers deliver another potential hit with the help of alternative-pop darling Halsey on “Closer.” Another flex-fest for the rising hit-making duo.

The Chainsmokers are unstoppable! The duo has produced numerous hits without dropping a proper album.  The latest gem on their gifted hands is “Closer,” featuring alternative-pop star Halsey. All indications suggest “Closer” will become their next big hit.

“I know it breaks your heart
Moved to the city in a broke down car and
Four years, no calls
Now you’re looking pretty in a hotel bar and
I can’t stop
No I can’t stop”

Andrew Taggart contributes his vocals to “Closer.” His tone and overall timbre of the vocals is superb; the low register wins. Expectedly, “Closer” features exceptional production, creating a pop/electro sound.  The Synths sound superb during the chorus. The blend of Taggart’s deeper vocals and the upper register synths is simply radiant.

“So baby pull me closer in the backseat of your Rover
That I know you can’t afford
Bite that tattoo on your shoulder
Pull the sheets right off the corner
Off the mattress that you stole
From your roommate back in Boulder
We ain’t ever getting older.”

Halsey enters on the second verse, effectively contrasting the timbre, and delivering more scrumptious ear candy. The most electrifying moment of “Closer” comes during the build-up section with Taggart and Halsey towards the end.  It’s safe to say, The Chainsmokers and Halsey “nail it.”

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, “Closer” is well-produced and features catchy lyrics. It has the potential to be a hit as all of The Chainsmokers’ songs have been.
