Cashmere Cat, 9 © Mad Love/InterscopeCashmere Cat has a potential hit on his hands with “Trust Nobody.”  He gets superb results with the help of Tory Lanez and Selena Gomez.

Cashmere Cat will be 29 years old in November.  29 is a late age to be breaking into the music biz in this day and age.  The Norwegian musician, producer, and DJ has been around for a couple of years, but still isn’t a household name.  Regardless, he’s set to release his debut album, and he gets an assist on single “Trust Nobody” from Tory Lanez and Selena Gomez.

“Trust Nobody” opens with Selena Gomez’s vocals.  Gomez sings the sensual hook, followed by the first verse. To her credit, her voice sounds much stronger than past performances. Surprisingly, she’s suited for this track.

Tory Lanez sings on the second verse.  Despite the fact that his debut album I Told You found him both singing and rapping, he’s best at singing.  He and Selena sing about sex in the back of a car and being freaky… The hook is incredible:

“I’ma tell you how I want it

Baby, tell me how you need it

Hope you’re good at keeping secrets

Say you’re good at keeping secrets

‘Cause you know I don’t trust nobody…”

Final Thoughts

Cashmere Cat has a potential hit on his hands with “Trust Nobody.” It’s sexy without crossing the line of being explicit.  Selena Gomez sounds great here – something usually not conceded from yours truly – while Tory Lanez is in his lane singing in falsetto.  Ultimately, this is well produced and well performed.
