Track Review: Britney Spears, ‘Do You Wanna Come Over?’
Britney Spears drops one final single before the arrival of ninth studio album, ‘Glory.’ Single “Do You Wanna Come Over?” definitely, doesn’t disappoint.
Before releasing her highly anticipated ninth album Glory, Britney Spears drops one last single, “Do You Wanna Come Over?” Like two of the three previously released singles, “Do You Wanna Come Over?” is F-U-N.
Arguably the biggest selling point of “Do You Wanna Come Over?” is its fierce, danceable groove. The groove and overall production possess a hypnotic quality. There’s little doubt that the sexy, flirty record will get stuck in the head from a first listen. In addition to the groove, an excellent feature of the production are the rhythmic guitar chords, which benefit from a clever harmonic progression.
Vocally, Spears gives a sound performance. Never considered an elite singer, the style suits Spears, who doesn’t have to push. Essentially, she’s able to play sexy, hence, delivering a heaping dose of ear candy. In addition to her lead vocals, terrific backing vocals – prior to the bridge – play as another instrument in the production work. One final component… Spears has a hype man on the tongue-n-cheek, sexy chorus. Perfect!
Ultimately, “Do You Wanna Come Over?” is a well-produced, danceable record that’s fun, flirty, and sexy. Spears is highly suggestive without crossing any lines. All in all, she delivers solid suiting the skill set of her instrument. Glory should be a treat.
