T-Pain, Goal Line © RCARapper/singer T-Pain returns cocky and confident on hard-hitting banger “Goal Line,” assisted by Blac Youngsta.

At one time, T-Pain was ‘kind of a big deal.’ Like many artists, he had a successful run on the charts, particularly his album, Epiphany, which featured hits “Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin’),” “Bartender,” and “Church.”  Since Epiphany, his career has been spottier – less hits, less notoriety.  The last proper studio album arrived in 2011 – rEVOLVEr.  He’s back with a new single, “Goal Line,” assisted by Blac Youngsta.

The cover art for the single suggests its content – sex, sex, and more sex.  While “Goal Line” is a football term, T-Pain and Blac Youngsta use it as a metaphor for sex.  Following an utterly ridiculous intro, the duo – mostly T-Pain – drops the shallow hook on us.

“I’m at the goal line (Gang Gang)
I’m at the goal line (Gang Gang)
Shawty got gold pussy (I swear)
And I hit the goldmine slow down...”

The production is great, if predictable.  It sounds seedy, which is fitting given the confident, sensual subject matter of “Goal Line.”

After the intro, T-Pain drops hard-hitting, tough bars on the first verse.  It’s a flex-fest, not anything particularly meaningful.  The same could be said of Blac Youngsta, who follows suit on the second verse.  Fittingly, T-Pain drops a third verse, continuing in a sexed-up, cocky and confident vein.

Final Thoughts

So, how does “Goal Line” stack up? It’s a good banger, but beyond that, it’s just another sex-laden, overconfident rap joint.  T-Pain should definitely have some ‘takers’ with “Goal Line,” but, fundamentally, this is nothing ‘brand new.’
