Spencer Taylor, Oh How Wonderful | Music Lifts 🎶 🏋

In the 28^th edition of Music Lifts (2024), we’re uplifted by nonagenarian gospel singer Spencer Taylor performing, “Oh How Wonderful.”

The goal is for these songs to make you feel better – be LIFTED to new heights!  So, for the 28^th edition of Music Lifts 🎶 🏋 (2024), we highlight “Oh How Wonderful” as performed by Spencer Taylor.

“Oh, how wonderful / Oh, how marvelous / To have Jesus / Living with you.” Nonagenarian gospel musician Spencer Taylor attests to the wonderfulness and marvelous of Jesus in “Oh How Wonderful”. Having a relationship with God is lit 🔥, as the kids say. Taylor has performed “Oh How Wonderful” many times throughout his career with The Highway Q.C.’s. Bobby Garfield Jackson Jr. composed this gospel classic. In this recording, he performs with a choir of gospel legends, many since deceased, in the 2005 album, Gospel Legends released via Malaco.

“He’s the lily of the valley

God’s a bright morning star

He’ll hear you when you call him

No matter how far you are

If you Jesus will go with me

And I will have no fear

I feel confident

I know that God is right there.”

Taylor puts his all into this laudatory gospel classic.  He sings assertively, delivering gritty moments.  He is supported sublimely by the gospel legends. Taylor gets ‘happy’ as he testifies to the glory of his Lord and Savior, restarting “Oh How Wonderful” after initially ending it.  This is common in gospel music – part of its spontaneity, particularly in the live setting. Besides the dynamic, spirited singing, the musical arrangement is also wonderful, and marvelous, with sweet piano, organ, and guitar.  “Oh How Wonderful” is a powerful music ministry 🙏 👏 🙌.
