In the 3^rd edition of DANCE GEMZ 🕺 💎 🎶 (2023), we totally get down with Skrillex performing the danceable gem,  “RATATA.”

Prepare to take it to the dance floor, folks! DANCE GEMZ 🕺 💎 🎶 is a column that celebrates awesome dance songs from the past and present.  The records that grace DANCE GEMZ 🕺 💎 🎶 aren’t merely limited to music explicitly characterized as dance.  That means all genres of music – electronic, pop, rock, disco, etc. – are welcome as long as the particular song is associated with dance. In the 3^rd  edition of DANCE GEMZ 🕺 💎 🎶 (2023), we totally get down with 🎙 Skrillex performing the danceable gem, 🎵 “RATATA”.

“This the kind of beat that go ra-ta-ta.” Woo! 🎙 Skrillex is king when it comes to dance and electronic music. He shocked the world by releasing not just one but two albums in 2023: 💿 Quest For Fire and 💿 Don’t Get Too Close.  The song at hand, 🎵 “RATATA”, graces the former album, appearing as the second track.  Though “RATATA” runs just two minutes and change, it is a total vibe, period.  Notably, the record enlists the services of a rap icon, 🎙 Missy Elliott, and also features 🎙 Mr. Oizo. Produced by Skrillex alongside 🎛 JOYRYDE,  “RATATA” samples two songs: 🎵 “Positif” by Mr. Oizo (hence his appearance as a featured artist) and 🎵 “Work It” by Missy Elliott.  Even though “Work It” is sampled, there are new contributions from Elliott, who exclusively handles the vocals.

The production kicks serious a$$, as to be expected from Skrillex.  The sound is rhythmic, characterized by menacing, detuned synths and a lit beat.  Adding to the kickassery  is a confident, electrifying vocal from Missy Elliott.  Even though she’s been far less prolific in her later career, the bars remains hot AF.  Missy says it best: “This shit so hot, you fu- with it.” Prior to that, she asserts, “Drop it to the floor, shake my big biddies / Bop it like Diddy, my face look pretty / Y’all ain’t doin’ shit new, I done did it.” She’s not lying – Missy was definitely a pioneer! Her and Skrillex, coupled with the Mr. Oizo sample, make a mean team on  🎵 “RATATA” which is straight fire 🔥.
