Shania Twain, Now © Mercury NashvilleCanadian country-pop superstar Shania Twain returns with comeback single “Life’s About to Get Good,” following a 15-year hiatus.

Shania Twain becomes the latest comeback story of 2017.  The Canadian country-pop sensation has been missing in action for 15 years! Yes, the last time that Twain dropped an album was in 2002 – Up!  Everybody is “up” for her return, and she kick starts the promo campaign for her new album, Now, off right.  She’s pumped on her new single, “Life’s About to Get Good.” Indeed, Shania Twain, indeed!

Naturally, the sound of “Life’s About to Get Good” is as enthusiastic as the title.  The production naturally straddles country and pop.  Arguably, the sound is more pop than country.  Still, there’s enough banjo, not to mention the four-on-the-floor beat to solidify its country music cred.  All in all, the sound is appealing. Is it enough to put Twain back in the spotlight? Well…time will tell.

Moving on to the lyrics, the positivity doesn’t start from the onset.  On the first verse, Twain discusses being shattered by a bad relationship:

“I was just broken, I was shattered / I trusted you so much, you’re all that mattered / You no longer love me and I sang like a sad bird / I couldn’t move on and I think you were flattered.”

Ultimately, by the chorus, Shania’s looking up!

“Oh, life’s about joy / Life’s about pain / It’s all about forgiving and the will to walk away / I’m ready to be loved / and love the way I should / Life’s about / Life’s about to get good.”

You betta say that Shania! The second verse is written similarly to the first, followed by the exuberant chorus once more.  On the bridge, which is distinct from the verses and chorus, she is regretful she wasted so much time:

“It took me so long to be strong / But I’m alive, and I hold on / To what I can feel, it hurts to heal / Oh, when love lies / About to get good…”

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, Shania Twain is about good vibes following an unfortunate situation on “Life’s About to Get Good.”  There’s nothing that can rain on her parade anymore. All in all, it’s great to hear legendary, country-pop artist so happy.  Better yet, it’s just great to hear her again.  The results aren’t game changing, but who cares – it’s Shania Twain and she’s back!
