Reba McEntire, Oh, How I Love Jesus | Track Review 🎵

Beloved country musician Reba McEntire delivers an inspired, superb take of the classic hymn, “Oh, How I Love Jesus.”  

Veteran country superstar Reba McEntire returns with in 2017 with a country-gospel album, Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope (February 3, 2017).  Ahead of the album, McEntire released six singles, including the powerful hymn, “Oh, How I Love Jesus.” 

“Oh, How I Love Jesus” initiates with a thoughtful intro.  The intro foreshadows what is to come, building up excitement. Foreshadowing the forthcoming energy proves to be a great touch.  Furthermore, it eliminates the typical blasé introduction to the beloved hymn. The soundness of the record doesn’t stop at the intro.  Throughout its course, superb country-gospel production work propels the overall performance.  The result is a well-rounded record that plays true to Reba’s roots.

Expectedly, Reba delivers pure, nuanced vocals.  Although she enters her 62^nd year, she sounds top-notch.  In reiteration, the production – particular the touches – is magnificent.  Those touches include backing vocals, guitar, piano, organ, pedal steel, and etc. While the verses are flawlessly executed, the crème de la crème is clearly the timeless, beautiful refrain: “Oh how I love Jesus.”

Final Thoughts 

Ultimately, Reba McEntire delivers a stunning take on a classic hymn. Amen!
