SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye.  To reiterate what I said last week (21 Savage & Metro Boomin Debut at No. 1), this column won’t be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that 💩 moving.  This week, I picked out FIVE notable observations from the Billboard 200, and FOUR observations from the Billboard Hot 100, with 🎙 Pop Smoke returning to no. 1 with his posthumous debut album, 💿 Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon

Billboard 200

💭 Weeks after last crowning the Billboard 200, 🎙 Pop Smoke returns to ‘the penthouse’ with his posthumous debut album, 💿 Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon.

💭 🎙 21 Savage and 🎙 Metro Boomin sees 💿 Savage Mode II slips from no. 1 to no. 2 in its second week on the charts.

💭 🎙 Fleetwood Mac sees 💿 Rumours return to the top 10 of the Billboard 200 for the first time in 42 years.

💭 There were no top-10 debuts this week.  However, there was one top-15 debut as 🎙 Trey Songz debuts at no. 15 with 💿 Back Home.  That’s an underwhelming start to say the least.

💭 Worth noting, 🎙 Black Pumas earn a spot on the Billboard 200 for the very first times.  Their self-titled debut, 💿 Black Pumas, launches at no. 200 (it came out in 2019).

Billboard Hot 100

💭 🎙 24kGoldn and 🎙 Iann Dior ascend to the top spot of the Hot 100 with 🎵 “Mood.” Honestly, it was only a matter of time before the popular single reached the penthouse.  “Mood” knocks off 🎙 Jawsh 685 and 🎙 Jason Derulo’s 🎵 “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)”, which falls to no. 6.

💭 🎙 Internet Money & 🎙 Gunna (featuring 🎙 Don Toliver and 🎙 NAV) have a hit on their hands as 🎵 “Lemonade” rises from no. 12 to no. 10).

💭 🎙 Fleetwood Mac sees their iconic gem, 🎵 “Dreams,” ascend from no. 21 to no. 12.  Again, the song appears on the band’s 1977 masterpiece, Rumours.

💭 🎙 Bebe Rexha and 🎙 Doja Cat earn a spot on the back half of the Hot 100 as 🎵 “Baby, I’m Jealous” launches at no. 58.
