P!nk, Beautiful Trauma © RCAP!nk returns with a second compelling single, “Beautiful Trauma,” ahead of her highly-anticipated, 7th studio album bearing the same title.

It took five-long-years for P!nk to return with a solo album.  Fans have been waiting since 2012, when she dropped The Truth About Love.  Now, 38-year old Alecia Moore drops Beautiful Trauma during the fourth quarter of 2017 (October 13).  Comeback single “What About Us” ended up being thoughtful, reflective, and hard-hitting. She returns with a second single, “Beautiful Trauma,” two weeks in advance of the album’s release.

Initially, “Beautiful Trauma” begins as a ballad, finding P!nk accompanied by piano.  This lasts only about 35 seconds. Even so, vocally, she sounds simply amazing.  The amazingness continues as “Beautiful Trauma” picks up steam, accelerating the pace, and filling out the production.  P!nk continues to impress vocally, even as her smoothness grows coarser (she oscillates throughout).  Also playing into this coarseness is the additions of every artists favorite bomb – the f-bomb!   Nonetheless, her punchier, more assertive vocals are fabulous, and the vocal production amplifies the excellence.

P!nk continues to showcase incredible consistency on “Beautiful Trauma.” Looking back on “What About Us,” it was clearly underrated from a commercial standpoint and even critically.  “Beautiful Trauma” doesn’t necessarily supplant it, but, it’s more intriguing in a lot of respects.  More sounds, more shifts, and generally, it’s more exciting.  There aren’t any glaring cons, though at some point we must ask, does every pop song really need the f-bomb repeated over and over?

Final Thoughts

All in all, “Beautiful Trauma” gives P!nk another strong single ahead of Beautiful Trauma.  Will it perform better than “What About Us?” Eh, time will tell, but it simply may be that P!nk is past her most lucrative period of her career.  She is 38, no longer 20, like when Can’t Take Me Home arrived.  Regardless, vocally and artistically, she remains a pop force.
