Noah Cyrus, I'm Stuck © RECORDS, LLCTeen-pop artist Noah Cyrus returns with her third career single, “I’m Stuck.” The results are mixed at best.

Miley Cyrus isn’t the only Cyrus who wants a piece of the musical pie in 2017.  Miley’s little sister, Noah Cyrus, first caught everyone’s attention with her debut single, “Make Me (Cry)” featuring Labrinth.  After a gap between singles, the 17-year old teen-pop singer returned with her second single, “Stay Together.” Now, fully ‘in-this-music-thing’ she drops her third single, “I’m Stuck.” Folks, it’s a doozy!

From the jump, “I’m Stuck” is unique.  The first order of business is figuring out where Noah Cyrus fall stylistically.  Is she trying to be a pop artist, or like her older sister, Miley, does she have some country leanings.  “I’m Stuck” offers no definitive answer, as the record opens with country sensibilities, yet evolves into a more pop-oriented effort.  Safe to say, this is one odd joint.

While the aforementioned analysis focused more on the song itself, what about Noah Cyrus?  Vocally, Cyrus gives a tongue-n-cheek performance.  During the first verse, she’s all over the place.  If just the first verse alone is used to evaluate her as a musician, the results are at best mixed. While the approach fits the unorthodox vibe of “I’m Stuck,” it doesn’t speak to Cyrus’ vocal abilities.  Not that earlier single “Make Me (Cry)” did either, but the results are worse on “Stuck.”

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, “I’m Stuck” is confounding. While the record attempts to distinguish Noah Cyrus from other pop artists and her sister, it just doesn’t quite work.  It’s unique mind you, but not necessarily a vibrant, respectable unique.  All over the place.
