Music Shopping List: Rick Ross ‘Rather You Than Me’ Leads the Charge

Rick Ross leads the music shopping list for March 17, 2017.  He returns with his ninth studio album, ‘Rather You Than Me.’

March 10, 2017 wasn’t a prolific new music release Friday.  Leading the charge was the original motion picture soundtrack for Beauty and the Beast.  It’s a new shopping week, but things still aren’t quite “on fire.” Nonetheless, the top of the ticket is more robust, with Rick Ross dropping his new album, Rather You Than Me earlier than expected.  The biz needs it! 

1. Rick Ross, Rather You Than Me

Rick Ross returns with his ninth studio album, Rather You Than Me.  Rather You Than Me follows up Ross’ 2015 effort, Black Market.  Although Black Market earned Ross another top-10 album, it didn’t perform particularly well on the charts.  Rather You Than Me is comprised of 14 tracks, including singles “Trap Trap Trap” featuring Young Thug and Wale, and “I Think She Like Me” featuring Ty Dolla $ign. The album is star-studded, to say the least.

2. Spoon, Hot Thoughts

Alternative rock band Spoon returns with its ninth studio album, Hot Thoughts.  Hot Thoughts arrives more than two years after They Want My Soul (August 2014). They Want My Soul earned Spoon its third top-10 album, debuting at no. 4 on the Billboard 200.  Comprised of 10 tracks, two singles arrived prior to Hot Thoughts: “Hot Thoughts” and “Can I Sit Next to You.”

3. Depeche Mode, Spirit

Veteran alternative rock band Depeche Mode returns with its 14^th studio album, Spirit.  Spirit arrives four years after Delta Machine, which debuted at no. 6 on the Billboard 200.  In its deluxe version, Spirit comprises of 17 tracks. Interestingly, only one single arrived prior to the album – “Where’s the Revolution.”

4. SoMo, The Answers

[Republic]

Pop/R&B artist SoMo returns with his third studio album, The Answers.  The Answers arrives nearly two years after My Life II, which debuted modestly at no. 50 on the Billboard 200. His 2014 self-titled debut fared much better, landing at no. 6 and spawning a moderate hit with “Ride” (no. 76 on the Hot 100).  The Answer is comprised of 13 tracks, with six songs arriving ahead of its release: “First,” “Champion,” “Play” (featuring Maty Noyes), “Control,” “Want It,” and “Just a Man.”

Also Released: Elevation Worship, There Is a Cloud; Milky Chance, Blossom
