It’s the fifth and final Friday of September 2017 – September 29.  Friday means another crop of albums is born, rather released.  September 2K17 has been eventful for the most part, save for the first Friday, which was quiet (LCD Soundsystem arrived with American Dream).  This week, the women “rule the roost” as Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, Shania Twain, and Tamar Braxton drop new albums. Lovato has the most popular single on the Hot 100 at the time of publication.

1. Demi Lovato, Tell Me You Love Me

Comprised of 15 tracks in its deluxe version, four singles arrived prior to the album: Sorry Not Sorry,” “Tell Me You Love Me,” “Sexy Dirty Love,” and You Don’t Do It for Me Anymore.”

 2. Miley Cyrus, Younger Now 

Miley Cyrus, Younger Now [📷: RCA]After a four-year hiatus between ‘proper’ studio albums, Miley Cyrus returns with Younger NowYounger Now serves as the follow-up to her 2013 urban-pop effort, Bangerz.  Early indications suggest that Cyrus has ditched the urban flavor, as well as the influence of urban culture itself.  That means, the twerking is out. Comprised of 11 songs, four singles arrived ahead of the album: Younger Now,” “Malibu,” “Week Without You,” and Inspired.” The only credited guest is Dolly Parton.

 3. Shania Twain, Now

Which arrived in November 2002.  Comprised of 16 tracks, Singles Swingin’ With My Eyes Closed,” Life’s About the Get Good,” Poor Me,” and We Got Something They Don’t arrived prior to the release of Now.

4. Tamar Braxton, Bluebird of Happiness

Bluebird of Happiness marks her first independent album, following two studio albums and a Christmas album with Epic. Comprised of 11 songs, singles “Blind,” “My Man,” and “Pick Me Up” were issued in advance of the album.  Yo Gotti is the sole featured guest.

5. A Boogie wit da Hoodie, The Bigger Artist

Comprised of 15 tracks, three singles were issued in advance of the album: “Drowning” featuring Kodak Black, “Say A’,” and “Beast Mode” featuring PnB Rock and YoungBoy Never Broke Again.” In addition to the aforementioned guests, Don Q, Chris Brown, and Trey Songz also make appearances.

6. Tank, Savage

Valentine.

7. Hoodie Allen, The Hype

8. Marvin Sapp, Close

Marvin Sapp, Close © ProvidentVeteran gospel musician Marvin Sapp returns with Close, his first album in two years.  Close follows You Shall Live (2015).  The biggest album of Sapp’s career was his 2007 effort, Thirsty, featuring hit single, “Never Would’ve Made It.”  Comprised of 10 songs, four singles arrived in advance of the album: “Listen,” “You and Me Together” featuring Erica Campbell & Izze Williams, “Kind of God,” and title track, Close.”
