Marilyn Manson, Heaven Upside Down © Loma VistaMarilyn Manson shines once more on “Kill4Me,” the second single from Heaven Upside Down.

Marilyn Manson is back with a new album, Heaven Upside Down (October 6).  The last time we heard from Manson, he was singing about “Killing Strangers” on The Pale Emperor.  Manson started the promo campaign with the hard-hitting, unapologetic We Know Where You F**king Live.” Man, what a statement! He follows up strong with second single, “Kill4Me.”

“Kill4Me” is mid-tempo. From the start, this record never feels rushed. It commences with an excellent groove. The sound is dark, expectedly in a minor key, featuring an instrumental that establishes the song. Marilyn Manson drops strong, dark, devilish vocals.  Even with his signature, coarse pipes, he keeps things in control here.  There’s a certain amount of poise – kind of shocking.

Essentially, “Kill4Me” has more of a ‘sensible’ sound compared to “We Know Where You Fucking Live.” Still, predictably, Manson drops some bombs – f-bombs that is.  There’s no way to describe those as sensible. A nice production touch is the addition of synths on the chorus.

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, “Kill4Me” gives the Antichrist Superstar another winning song. There is nothing objectionable in regards to the music.  However, “Kill4Me” doesn’t quite pack the same punch that “We Know Where You Fucking Live” does.  Nonetheless, there are no glaring cons. Marilyn Manson seems to be on his way to more hellishness, and that’s a celestial thing.
