Marian Hill, Subtle Thing © RepublicElectronic music duo Marian Hill Jeremy Lloyd and Samantha Gongol – impresses on an intriguing new single, “Subtle Thing.”

Marian Hill is back! Comprised of producer Jeremy Lloyd and vocalist Samantha Gongol, the two make a formidable team.  Need proof? Simply check out their latest musical offering, intriguing single, “Subtle Thing.”

“Subtle Thing” initiates with mysterious, unsettling production initially. The unique sound is a is a selling point. Gradually, the production work settles in.  Gongol thrills with her smooth, sultry vocals; her tone is gorgeous. After setting things up on the first verse, the second verse adds more production. There’s an excellent contrast, clearly providing some distinction and separation between the verses.  Between those verses, obviously, there comes the chorus.  It’s simplistic, but incredibly.

“It’s a subtle thing / When you look at me / It’s a subtle thing / Such a subtle thing.”

The bridge welcomes elegantly harmonized vocals from Gongol. Additionally, there’s more production contrasts. There are more lyrics on the bridge compared to the chorus.

“We always play into / I love the way we move / Heard your favorite record on the day before we met / (I love the way we move) / Every time I hear it now I kinda start to swear / (We always play) / Wanna call you over when I feel you getting closer / (Into) / Are you teasing me?”

Final Thoughts

Marian Hill come back strong! Jeremy Lloyd ‘puts in work’ on the production end of things, while Samantha Gongol sounds fantastic vocally. All in all, “Subtle Thing” is well-conceived.
