Mali Music, The Transition of Mali © RCAMali Music delivers a well-written, well-rounded song with single, “Gonna Be Alright.” “Gonna Be Alright” sets the tone for ‘The Transition of Mali.’

Once upon a time, Mali Music was a gospel artist.  Prior to his 2014 R&B album, Mali Is…, Mali Music was known more for his spiritually-driven endeavors.  Nonetheless, Mali Is, as well as his 2017 effort, The Transition of Mali, both have their fair share of spiritual messaging.  Five singles arrived ahead of The Transition of Mali, including “Gonna Be Alright.”

“Gonna Be Alright” is a spiritual song about the power of faith and love.  It opens energetically with a tongue-n-cheek, jazzy sound. This turns out to be only temporary before the track and production establish itself. Expectedly, the production work is superb – who expects any less from the legendary Salaam Remi.  Naturally, “Gonna Be Alright” has that old-school sensibility with the dusty, soulful drums and the prominent upright piano sound.

Mali Music offers clear vocals. His intriguing lead receives excellent support from the background vocals on the chorus:

“Oh, I got a song to sing / And it’s a song about hope for you / It’s a song about faith / I see all that you are going through / And it’s gonna be alright (it’s gonna be alright) …”

“Gonna Be Alright” is all about good vibes. On the first verse, Mali is thankful to God for his existence:

“Why did I get to place my feet here? / Thy kingdom come…”

On the second verse, he speaks about the power of love:

“And love is the lens that I meet you through.”

Poetic! On the bridge, he continues to see the sheer beauty of God’s work:

“Oh, I see you laughing / Yeah, I see you smiling / Oh, I see you dancing / I’m inspired / All he wants for us is / All I want for you / So let’s get higher.”

Final Thoughts

The best way to characterize “Gonna Be Alright” is good vibes.  Mali Music has a well-written, overall well-rounded song on his hands.  All in all, a great start for The Transition of Mali
