In the 38th edition of Music Lifts (2024), we’re uplifted by gospel musician and pastor Lisa Page Brooks performing “Devil is a Liar.”

“The devil is a liar / Yea, yea, yea, yea!” Amen 🙏👏 🙌! Sometimes, positive messages come from unlikely sources. Lisa Page Brooks earned a rare, viral, gospel moment with “The Devil is a Liar”. The big-voiced gospel singer and pastor gave the internet much-needed inspiration and uplifting vibes. First, she called out the devil for what he is, twice. Then, in the brief clip, she proclaimed, “Victory is mine.” Perhaps the best part of the clips is where Brooks riffs in her robust, lower register on the “yea(s)” affirming syllables. Listening to this anointed singer sing this clip once is not sufficient.  This is a video/sound clip you’ll play on repeat multiple times a day.  Where so many viral trends are secular for entertainment purposes only, Brooks both entertains and ministers.  Now that’s a two-for-one I can proudly support.

When a trend happens, everybody starts jumping on it.  In the case of “The Devil is a Liar,” numerous reels, shorts, and TikToks have been made using Brooks’ soundbite as well as others creating their original.  Also, remixes of the song have further heightened Brooks’ profile, as well as expanding the positive message that God is good all the time, and the devil will never prevail.  In a TikTok, vocal teacher Jaron M. Legrair (jmlegrairstudio) analyzes her vocal technique.

Stellar remixes appear on the Inspirational Gospel Music Channel and KariAtareOfficial on YouTube. The Kari Atare remix adds a hip-hop feel while maintaining the contemporary black gospel vibes.
