After making a splash with “Strip That Down,” Liam Payne returns with his second official single as a solo artist, “Bedroom Floor.” “Bedroom Floor” features urban-electro-pop production. The record makes compels with the use of a four-on-the-floor beat, while a steel drum (synth) adds a tropical touch. Liam Payne delivers clear vocals throughout. He employs his middle register throughout the verse and most of the pre-chorus.

Speaking of the pre-chorus, it serves as a fine lead-in to the chorus.

“You be saying real, real nice, real nice things

When I’m touching you

You be getting real, real, real, real, real jealous

When it wasn’t you, oh / And every now when my iPhone, iPhone rings

I be telling you

I told you, I told you, I told you.”

Payne is best when he nails the falsetto on the chorus section.  Naturally, the chorus is catchy, filled with repetition.

“You said it was over

You said it was over

But your clothes say different on my bedroom floor

You said it was over

You said it was over

But your clothes say different on my bedroom floor

You said it was over, you said it was over

But your clothes say different on my bedroom floor…”

A brief bridge serves as a solid lead-in to the final chorus. The bridge brings things back down before a falsetto-driven line brings things back up once again.

Final Thoughts

All in all, “Bedroom Floor,” the second single attributed to Liam Payne as a lead artist, works out well. It’s enjoyable, well-produced, and well-performed.  The best attribute of “Bedroom Floor” is clearly the falsetto.
