In the 5th edition of COVERS (2022), Korean Soul delivers a compelling rendition of “Emmanuel,” written and originally performed by Norman Hutchins.

Ah, it’s time to get cozy and totally cover up! So, what’s the premise of COVERS? In COVERS, we highlight a musician or band covering songs by another musician (likely a popular musician). COVERS separates itself from a related column, Head 2 Head 🗣️, because it only highlights the musician who covers, not the original/most famous performer. In the 5th edition of COVERS (2022), 🎙 Korean Soul delivers a compelling rendition of 🎵 “Emmanuel”, originally performed by 🎙 Norman Hutchins.
As with many of their covers, their carpool karaoke version of “Emmanuel” does not dare disappoint. Honestly, I don’t believe I have ever viewed a Korean Soul video, R&B or gospel, that has underwhelmed in the least. 🎙 Sooyong is on fire, handling the lead capably – he is locked in and on autopilot, praising G-O-D. The harmonies from his fellow Soul brothers are stupendous – celestial by all means! The quartet nail those modulations with Sooyong riffing fiercely – in the most spiritual, uplifting way possible, of course! Like the original, this performance does not need further analysis by myself or anybody else – it speaks for itself and speaks directly to the soul.
