ell, SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is. I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. This column isn’t extensive, but rather short and sweet. This week, I picked out SIX notable observations from the Billboard 200 📉, and X observations from the Billboard Hot 100 📉, with 🎙 Kanye West and 🎙 BTS sitting atop the charts respectively.Billboard 200 📉
💭 With the arrival of Mr. West, 🎙 Halsey was forced to settle for the runner-up spot on the Billboard 200. No. 2 ain’t bad for 💿 If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power.
💭 🎙 Lil Tecca earns the third and final debut in the top 10. 💿 We Love You Tecca 2 launches at no. 10.
💭 🎙 OneRepublic just misses the top-10! 💿 Human, originally due in 2020, settles for a no. 11 bow.
💭 Three more albums launch in the top-50 of the Billboard 200. 🎙 Turnstile arrives at no. 30 (💿 Glow On), 🎙 CHVRCHES lands right behind at no. 31 (💿 Screen Violence), while Nelly launches at no. 45 (💿 Heartland).
💭 Despite a promo single featuring the unstoppable 🎙 Taylor Swift, 🎙 Big Red Machine debuts modestly at no. 82 with 💿 How Long Do You Think It’s Gonna Last?
Billboard Hot 100 📉
💭 Somehow, 🎙 BTS’ 🎵 “Butter” returns to the top of the Hot 100 for an eighth nonconsecutive week. Dominant hit, period.
💭 As you’d expect, 🎙 Kanye West does some damage on the Hot 100. Two songs from 💿 Donda debut in the top 10: 🎵 “Hurricane” (no. 8) and 🎵 “Jail” (no. 10).
💭 Country singer/songwriter 🎙 Walker Hayes has a top 10 hit on his hands! 🎵 “Fancy Like” ascends from no. 11 to no. 9.
💭 🎙 Baby Keem and 🎙 Kendrick Lamar see 🎵 “Family Ties” launch at no. 18.
💭 🎙 Meek Mill, assisted by 🎙 Lil Baby and 🎙 Lil Durk is all about 🎵 “Sharing Locations” at no. 22.
💭 The final debut on this week’s edition of the Hot 100? That would be 🎵 “In Da Getto” (🎙 J Balvin and 🎙 Skrillex), which arrives at no. 96.
