“I’m a fuckin’ wreck / I’m a wreck.” Woo! Joey Ariemma doesn’t waste any time on his new, brutally honest rock single, “Twenty Something Wreck.” He brilliantly foreshadows what’s to come by dropping the bomb – the f-bomb that is – upon the listeners on the intro.  BOOM! Eventually, the intro is part of the chorus, the centerpiece of the record.  Let’s not get ahead of ourselves though! Ariemma wrote “Twenty Something Wreck” himself, while he produced it alongside Jim Kaufman. The results are RAD, led by compelling vocals as well as the driving, groovy, guitar-fueled backdrop. Rock TF on!

Ariemma crafts a truly relatable listening experience, whether you are indeed a “Twenty Something Wreck” like he is, or perhaps a different age.  Many can relate to the experiences he sings about, at least to some extent.  There are plenty things going on with Joey here, as he navigates pleasure, identity, and recklessness – duh!  He’s been “caught in a million mixed signals” (verse one) yet later, he’s “No victim / fucked by the system / My condition / Clouds up my vision.”  Wreck indeed! Interestingly, on the verses, he sings with control and great ease, in somewhat of an undertone, yet still serves up potent lyricism as aforementioned. He definitely steps up his game on the chorus:

“I’m a fuckin’ wreck
I don’t know myself
I’m a fuckin’ mess
You should save yourself
Twenty something wreck...”

By the end, Ariemma takes some additional risks melodically, adding some great, gritty ad-libs and letting all that recklessly come TF out, ha ha.

Final Thoughts

Perhaps you don’t know who Joey Ariemma just yet.  Get to know him, or minimally, check out the cool music he’s making (socials are linked below). “Twenty Something Wreck” is that relatable, rockin’ bop you need in your life.  We’ve all been that wreck, and some of us still are!
