Billboard: Jeezy (Trap or Die 3) Narrowly Takes No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Kenny Chesney (Cosmic Hallelujah) settles for no. 2.

It was a close one on the latest edition of the Billboard 200, but Jeezy won the race.  His latest album, Trap or Die 3, debuts at no. 1 on the Billboard 200.  Jeezy moved a respectable 89,000 units, with 82% of that total being pure sales. According to Billboard, Jeezy is no stranger to the top-five.

Kenny Chesney was the personal pick to earn the top spot, and he wasn’t far off with Cosmic Hallelujah.  Like his previous album, he lost a close race for the top spot, but sold the most albums.  Cosmic Hallelujah begins at no. 2 with ~89,000 units, with nearly 89% of that total equating pure sales.

Keeping the new debuts rolling, Meek Mill and Avenged Sevenfold both hit the top five.  Mill’s DC4 was also in contention for the top spot, moving 87,000 units (~52% pure sales).  Avenged Sevenfold’s The Stage posted great numbers, but not enough to earn better than no. 4 (76,000 units, ~95% pure sales).

Beyond Jeezy, Kenny Chesney, Meek Mill, and Avenged Sevenfold, things are a bore.  Lady Gaga suffers erosion after a stellar first week with Joanne, falling to no. 5.  Pentatonix’s A Pentatonix Christmas also slips to no. 6. Michael Bublé (Nobody But Me) suffers a worst fate than the other newbies, sliding to no. 10.  Otherwise, Drake (Views), Suicide Squad, and Hamilton are the familiar holdovers.

Who’s got next on the Billboard 200? Alicia Keys (Here) and Bon Jovi (This House Is Not for Sale) should have a shot.  Common (Black America Again) should also debut relatively high.
