Similar to the happenings on the Billboard 200, Ed Sheeran is not budging.  For an eighth week, “The Shape of You” is the no. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100.  Ed should be getting nervous about his status, though – Bruno Mars is gaining quickly with “That’s What I Like.” Beyond Sheeran and Mars, there are more compelling tales from the Billboard Hot 100, dated April 1, 2017.  That’s no joke… there’s totally more ish happening beyond those two.

 

  1. Ed Sheeran spends an eighth week at no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. “The Shape of You” seems unstoppable.

 

 

  1. Bruno Mars continues to put pressure on Ed Sheeran. “That’s What I Like” rises to no. 2 this week on the Hot 100.

 

  1. The Weeknd, assisted by Daft Punk, sees “I Feel It Coming” rise from no. 12 to no. 5.

 

  1. Nicki Minaj, Drake & Lil Wayne debut at no. 14 with “No Frauds.” Nicki Minaj earns two more debuts on the Hot 100 with “Regret in Your Tears” (no. 61) and “Changed It” featuring Lil Wayne (no. 71).

 

  1. Future is on the up-and-up with “Mask Off,” which jumps from no. 32 to no. 19.

 

  1. Zedd & Alessia Cara are on the rise with “Stay,” which ascends from no. 34 to no. 27.

 

  1. Ayo & Teo ascend up the charts with “Rolex” (no. 48 to no. 34).

 

 

  1. Lorde sees “Green Light” slide 20 spots down the Hot 100 (no. 19 to no. 39). “Liability,” on the other hand, debuts at no. 78.

 

  1. Childish Gambino continues to rise with “Redbone” (no. 69 to no. 56). “Redbone” peaked at no. 48.

 

  1. Frank Ocean debuts at no. 72 with single, “Chanel.”
