Up-and-coming Boston pop artist Greer returns with fun new single, “School Night,” assisted by risqué rapper, CupcakKe.

“Take out your books / Class is in session / With CupcakKe and Greer.” Say What? Boston up-and-coming pop artist Greer returns with another one. After turning up the heat and satisfying us with “Satisfy” – both the song and the video – he drops “School Night,” featuring CupcakKe. In fact, it is CupcakKe who gets the school day – rather school night started with the aforementioned intro. Then, Greer gets into the game with simple, infectious chanted lyrics:

“I’m gonna take you out on a school night / I’m gonna take you out on a wild ride.”

Profundity exemplified? Nah, but the pair have adventure – an escapade – on their minds.

Like his previous work, “School Night” is built upon being flirty, fun, and suggestive. He has solid pop production work behind him. As opposed to being focused on his studies, he has aspirations to have a hot date… on a school night of all nights! Expectedly, yet effectively, Greer uses school references to fuel the fire on the verses. These verses are well sung – representative of the pop idiom. However, his “bread is buttered” on the chorus, which reprises the aforementioned chanted lyrics, plus some.

“I’m gonna take you out on a school night / I’m gonna take you out on a wild ride / I’m gonna show you this / this side of life / I’m gonna show you things / You might like.”

After two verses of Greer informing us how it’s going down, he gets the assist from CupcakKe.  Bringing CupcakKe along for the ride ensures “School Night” is risqué. Check out the rapper’s output, and it’s definitely sexually explicit. Compared to her own work, however, she doesn’t get as raunchy as usual, which is a pro in this context. Still, this is CupcakKe, and she definitely gets in in.

“…F*ck it up so hard / We gon need some / Detention / F*ck me in / The rear window / If you go buy me / A rental / Can be my number one / But have me / Number two pencils.”

“Number two pencils” huh?

Final Thoughts

All in all, Greer, assisted by CupcakKe drops another enjoyable pop joint. He sings well while CupcakKe reins it in – at least more the usual. Good ear candy for school nights or the weekend as well!
