G-Eazy, The Beautiful & Damned © RCAG-Eazy brings the heat with the seventh teaser track from ‘The Beautiful & Damned,’ “Love is Gone.” He’s assisted by Drew Love of THEY.

Ahead of The Beautiful & Damned (December 15), G-Eazy dropped a seventh teaser track, “Love is Gone.” As with the last couple of singles, G-Eazy gets an assist, this time from Drew Love of THEY.  Despite being released so late in the promo process, arguably, “Love is Gone” is the rapper’s most hard-hitting single.  It’s tough to beat out top-10 hit “No Limit,” but the rapper goes deeper than he has in the past.

There are ample pros, as foreshadowed in the aforementioned paragraph.  The production work is a selling point, featuring dusty, old-school drums, and set in minor key.  Drew Love blesses us with his fantastic vocals early on, singing the memorable hook.  He sounds beautiful, distinct, and soulful.  G-Eazy follows, clearly on ‘autopilot.’  What makes this different compared to other performances is that he doesn’t rely on shallow things, but rather, relevant social issues.  As opposed to one-liners about stealing someone’s girl, he focuses on the political climate of America, and unfair treatment of the marginalized.  That’s definitely new for the Bay Area rapper.

Final Thoughts

Once again, G-Eazy builds anticipation for The Beautiful & Damned.  By far, “Love is Gone” is the most surprising offering, without question.  If it seemed like the cocky, sometimes overconfident, fuckboy ways of G-Eazy might dominate The Beautiful & Damned, he expands the narrative. “No Limit” aside, “Love is Gone” is just might be the crème de la crème of The Beautiful & Damned.
