There’s nothing better than fresh blood, and no, I’m not being vampirical here, sigh. The fresh blood that I’m referencing is a rising, 22-year old London R&B singer/songwriter, Dom McAllister. McAllister is definitely on an upward trajectory, after entering the Top 10 US and UK Spotify charts. The numbers are nice, but what’s even better is actually hearing and experiencing a well-crafted product, composed of great talent and musicianship. Dom definitely delivers that to the world with his new single “Prospects,” described as a “new freedom of expression for him – experiences with sexuality, anxiety, and the maelstrom of emotions that comes with it.” That’s deep, and just the type of inspired subject matter and relatable theme that fuels a great song. And folks, “Prospects” is totally a great song.
“Got my patience on the line … / Boy or girl this time, man you can’t make up your mind / Your preference ain’t my business / But you leave me on the side it ain’t right.”
“It’s not even about my fucking respect / The lack you give when you get lonely / Your place or mine, I’ll pick up this time / Pay me back, story of your life.”
Final Thoughts
“Sexuality comes into play with ‘Prospects’. I can vouch for saying that most of the gay community have been through that one ‘straight’ person who wanted to experiment,” Dom McAllister says of this stellar track. He goes on to add, “There’s obviously nothing wrong with that but not when consideration and respect is neglected…Regardless of gender, everyone has been taken advantage of at one point.” Sigh, as a ‘prospect’ for the next artist to truly watch, McAllister sits at the top of the list. Great vocals, awesome, relatable subject matter, and balanced, intimate-sounding production make “Prospects” truly a must-hear.
