SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. This column isn’t extensive, but rather short and sweet.  This week, I picked out SIX notable observations from the Billboard 200 📉,  and X observations from the Billboard Hot 100 📉, with 🎙 DJ Khaled earning his ‘best’ status atop the Billboard 200.

Billboard 200 📉

💭 🎙 DJ Khaled debuts at no. 1 with 💿 Khaled Khaled.  What more can you say but ‘WE THE BEST’ baby! He forces last week’s no. 1, 💿 A Gangsta’s Pain, courtesy of 🎙 Moneybagg Yo, to no. 2.

💭 My, my, my, how the mighty have fallen. 🎙 Thomas Rhett earns another top-10 debut on the Billboard 200 with 💿 Country Again (Side A), but his no. 10 start is modest for him.

💭 🎙 Gojira earns the only other top-20 debut with 💿 Fortitude, which bows at no. 12.

💭 🎙 Manchester Orchestra unveil 💿 The Million Masks of God at no. 31, securing a top-40 ‘berth.’

💭 🎙 girl in red debuts at no. 67 with her debut album, 💿 If I Could Make It Go Quiet.

💭 While she’s known for her awesome songwriting skills, 🎙 Julia Michaels can’t be happy with the tepid start her debut album, 💿 Not in Chronological Order received. Michaels mustered up a mere no. 183 start – OUCH!

Billboard Hot 100 📉

💭 🎙 The Weeknd and 🎙 Ariana Grande hold serve on the Billboard Hot 100 with 🎵 “Save Your Tears (Remix)”.

💭 🎙 The Kid LAROI has a surefire hit on his hand with 🎵 “Without You”, with a little help from 🎙 Miley Cyrus.  “Without You” ascends from no. 23 to no. 8.

💭 🎙 Billie Eilish launches at no. 10 with 🎵 “Your Power”, one of the great singles from her highly anticipated sophomore album, 💿 Happier Than Ever.

💭 Expectedly, 🎙 DJ Khaled earns some debuts on the Hot 100 from 💿 Khaled Khaled with the highest being 🎵 “Every Chance I Get” (no. 20) featuring 🎙 Lil Baby and 🎙 Lil Durk.  Surprisingly, it beats out “Sorry Not Sorry” (no. 30) featuring rap icons 🎙 Nas and 🎙 Jay-Z alongside 🎙 James Fauntleroy.

💭 🎙 Thomas Rhett debuts at no. 73 with 🎵 “Country Again,” among his best songs from 💿 Country Again (Side A).
