SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is. I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. To reiterate what I said last week (📉 Rod Wave, Lil Nas X Top: Scanning the Charts 📉 No. 14), this column won’t be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that 💩 moving. This week, I picked out FIVE notable observations 🔎 from the Billboard 200 📉, and FIVE observations 🔎 from the Billboard Hot 100 📉, with 🎙 Demi Lovato debuting at no. 2 album on the Billboard 200 (behind 🎙 Justin Bieber) and 🎙 Silk Sonic ascending to no. 1 on the Hot 100 (🎵 “Leave the Door Open”).
Billboard 200 📉
💭 🎙 Demi Lovato narrowly misses the top spot with her seventh studio album, 💿 Dancing with the Devil… The Art of Starting Over, which debuts at no. 2. Both Bieber and Lovato best Rod Wave, whose 💿 SoulFly slips to no. 3 in its second week.
💭 🎙 Lil Tjay experiences some top echelon Billboard 200 success as 💿 Destined 2 Win launches at no. 5.
💭 The late, iconic rapper 🎙 DMX reenters the Billboard 200 at no. 73 with 💿 The Best of DMX.
💭 Following the three debuts in the top five, generally, things are quiet on the charts. 36 spots before Bieber unleashed his Freedom on the chart, 🎙 Shakey Graves launches at no. 136 with 💿 Roll the Bones X.
Billboard Hot 100 📉
💭 Following a HELL of a lot of controversy, 🎙 Lil Nas X slips from no. 1 to no. 2 with 🎵 “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)”.
💭 🎙 Olivia Rodrigo, who broke through with 🎵 “drivers license”) makes a big splash with 🎵 “Déjà vu” which debuts at no. 8.
💭 🎙 Demi Lovato sees some of the songs from her no. 2 bowing 💿 Dancing with the Devil… The Art of Starting Over debut on the Hot 100. 🎵 “Dancing with the Devil” bows at no. 57 while 🎵 “Met Him Last Night” (featuring 🎙 Ariana Grande), starts at no. 61.
💭 🎙 BTS secures the 81st spot on the Hot 100 with 🎵 “Film Out”.
