B

ring on the braggadocio, drip, sex, and kick-a$$ery – is that even a real word?  Regardless of whether it is or isn’t, you’ve entered Rap BNGRZ 🔥 territory! On Rap BNGRZ 🔥 (bangers, spelled properly), the premise is simple and like other columns gracing The Musical Hype (Outlandish Rock 🎸🤘 is its rock brotha from a different motha). BNGRZ provides background info and commentary on cocky, confident, ferocious hip-hop/rap songs. The bangers featured on BNGRZ can be brand-spanking-new or certified classics. On the 6th edition of Rap BNGRZ 🔥 (2022), we break down the banger status of 🎵 “Super” performed by 🎙 Cordae.

Theme & Lyrics

“Last year, I made seven million / Didn’t have to do a fuckin’ show.” Woo! Now that’s the life right there, man! From the start of 🎵 “Super”, rapper 🎙 Cordae is turnt TF up.  “He may be young but he’s ready” and man, oh man, can he rap his a$$ off! “Super” arrived in 2021 as the promo single from his 2022 album, 💿 From a Birds Eye View. From a Birds Eye View debuted respectably at no. 13 on the 📉 Billboard 200, but Cordae is still burgeoning in the rap game despite already being nominated for a 🏆 Grammy.  Based upon “Super” and his ‘super’ performance, you wouldn’t believe he’s still ‘up and coming.’

“Shout out to my niggas up at Coca-Cola

For the check they cut me at the Super Bowl

All my life moments is super woah

My nigga Dr. Dre, he got a super boat

Last night, I was textin’ Jack Dorsey

That’s the perks you get from being super dope.”

Da-yum, Cordae is a big baller! Against a badass backdrop produced by 🎛 Jack Uriah, 🎛 Jenius, and 🎛 Kid Culture, he drops cocky, confident, and energetic rhymes. The chorus (excerpted above) is my favorite part, finding the rapper dropping agile, punchy bars.  He keeps things lit in the verses, not giving one fizzuck.  He makes it clear he takes the rap game serious, asserting, “I been stackin’ up all these assets / Can’t be conductin’ any bad business (Nah).” Furthermore, “Hatin’-ass ho,” guess what you can do? “You can suck my dick!” Woo! Who didn’t see that coming?  He also drops a surefire dime when he asserts in the second verse, “Young, rich, and Black, they hate me in America.”  🎙 Alicia Keys is surely somewhere singing, “This boy is on fire 🔥🔥🔥!”

Final Thoughts 💭

If you haven’t added 🎵 “Super” to your playlist, what in the world are you waiting for? This is a certified Rap BNGR 🔥 through and through.  There’s confidence, cockiness, drip, and ample trash talk.  What more could you ask for? Young 🎙 Cordae talks that Sugar Honey Iced Tea, and it’s delish!
