Chris Pellnat, Super Saiyan | Track Review 🎵

New York singer/songwriter Chris Pellnat gives us an entertaining, utterly irresistible, folky, and novel gem on his single, “Super Saiyan.”

“I’m like a Super Saiyan / I’m just saying / Look at all the energy / That’s washing over me.”  Woo! Prepare to have this chorus stuck in your head! Folky, singer/songwriter music can be utterly infectious just like pop 🤯.  Talented singer/songwriter 🎙 Chris Pellnat easily and effortlessly proves this on his single, 🎵 “Super Saiyan”.  That chorus is charming and tuneful, with Pellnat’s voice providing fine expression – quite nuanced.

Sure, the chorus is a selling point – the crème de la crème – of “Super Saiyan.” The verses are no slouch, either 💪.  “I don’t want to act my age / I don’t need to turn the page,” Pellnat sings, adding, “I’ll let you know when I’m ready / To step into that cage.” WORD.  Of course, one of the best moments references the song itself: “This song just came out this way / I don’t care what people say / I’ll let you know when I’m ready / To play this pandering game.” Again, WORD!  Melodically, “Super Saiyan” is elite. Moving on to the musical backdrop, from the jump, the folky aesthetic established by acoustic guitars and the secret weapon, accordion 🤯, draws you in – engages you.  And, after all the compliments, we didn’t even address the elephant in the room… the reason that might draw many to this song… the ANIME connection, DUH 😉! It’s giving #DragonBall energy!!! All told, 🎵 “Super Saiyan” is a novel song I didn’t know I needed.  If I didn’t know I needed, I have no doubt many others will feel the same. After listening to it, multiple times, well, I simply can’t stop.  Well done Mr. Pellnat!
