On 3BOPS, we are totally dedicated to keeping things L-I-T-E! Similar to 5ive Songs, there’s a topic and a short blurb, only with THREE songs instead of FIVE. Yes, it’s a playlist, but it’s a miniature playlist that shouldn’t take much time to consume. On this edition of 3BOPS, we select three awesome songs that are associated with a CHILD 👦 in some form or fashion.
1. Lauren Daigle, “Look Up Child”
💿 Look Up Child • 🏷 Centricity Music • 🗓 2018
That said, you can infer that the You seen in the aforementioned lyrics refers to The Most High. Even if that wasn’t the case, God’s mercifulness and omniscience are clearly implied, with a fresh backdrop and expressive vocals by Daigle. And of course, the titular lyric, which is repeated on the chorus, finds Daigle encouraging all to look up to the throne!

2. The Weeknd, “Snowchild”
💿 After Hours • 🏷 Republic • 📅 2020
As evidenced by those lyrics, “Snowchild” is more than drugs, though the Dizzy Gillespie line is pretty rad (“I was blowing smoke, had me ‘Dizzy’ like Gillespie”). He explores his childhood, coming up and becoming famous, and of course drip and sex. It’s another winning moment by all means.

3. J. Cole, “Middle Child”
💿 Revenge of the Dreamers III • 🏷 Dreamville / Roc Nation • 📅 2019
Cole drops compelling rhymes, showcasing his consistent, elite flow. The two most memorable sections of the record are the refrain and the chorus. Cole also brings plenty of heat on the verses. Among topics covered include the incarceration of black males. The best way to describe “Middle Child” is 🔥.
