Charli XCX, Boys © AtlanticCharli XCX has ‘boys’ on her mind on her infectious, fun new single, “Boys.” Sweetening the deal is a music video filled with famous boys.

Where exactly has Charli XCX been? According to her, she “was busy thinking ‘bout boys.” Fair enough – she’s young and crushing is natural. On her long-awaited new single, fittingly titled “Boys,” the lust is real for the British pop artist.  Along with the new single comes a video sure to excite girls and boys alike.  The video is star-studded, including Joe Jonas, Charlie Puth, Cameron Dallas, and Diplo. (BTW, it’s Cameron Dallas’ abs one is privy to in the still for the vid). That’s just a few of the boys appearing in “Boys.”  The music video in this instance is just as impactful as the single – maybe even more impactful.  Boys will do that to you.

Joe Jonas makes his appearance in the "Boys" music videoBut enough about the excess of boy – rather man – eye candy in the video.  The song itself is brief, but packs a punch from the first listen.  The production is slick, yet the vibe is sensual, yet in an innocent way.  In that respect, Charli XCX, who turns 25 August 2, comes over as a teenager enamored by the opposite sex.  She’s not an adolescent, yet that’s the vibe given off here. It’s captivating for sure. She sings in a low-key manner, aiming to give that sexy touch without truly getting sexual.  In other words, “Boys” is tasteful, isn’t it?

Cameron Dallas flaunts his abs in "Boys" Well, the first line Charli XCX sings on the first verse is as follows:

“I need that bad boy to do me right on a Friday / And I need that good one to wake me up on a Sunday.”

It could be worse. At least she’s mindful of the Sabbath.

Final Thoughts

All in all, Charli XCX has something going for her on “Boys.” Yes, the viral video may outpace the song, but the song is no slouch.  To reiterate, this joint packs a punch from the first listen.  You’ll be thinking about boys too after listening because they’ll get stuck in your head.
