Breaking Benjamin, Ember © HollywoodPennsylvanian hard rockers Breaking Benjamin return with some bite on the carnivorous “Feed the Wolf,” a promo single for their sixth studio album, Ember.

“I can feel the animal within / I chain the beast crawling inside myself.” Pennsylvania hard-rock band Breaking Benjamin are back.  Following a near three-year hiatus, Benjamin Burnley and company returns with their sixth studio album, Ember (April 13, 2018).  In advance of Ember, the band has released a couple of promo singles, which includes the carnivorous and predatory second single, “Feed the Wolf.”

“Feed the Wolf” commences emphatically with biting guitars. In addition to the assertive guitars, the record is anchored by pummeling, hard-hitting drums.  Ultimately, the music, set in a minor key, sets the tone for the record.  Matching the hard-nosed musical backdrop, frontman Benjamin Burnley serves up commanding, confident vocals.  As tough as he may sound, he sprinkles in a dash of falsetto on the chorus.  This fits in with the melodic nature of “Feed of the Wolf.” Naturally, the chorus is a highlight.

“Carry me through this world of lies
I feel no more, the suffering
Bury me in this cold light
I feed the wolf, and shed my skin.”

Final Thoughts

How does “Feed the Wolf” stack up? Ultimately, “Feed the Wolf” is enjoyable, and filled with punch. Additionally, it benefits from being incredibly melodic. There’s nothing game changing or incredibly profound about it, but worth spinning without question.
