Black Veil Brides, Vale © RepublicRock band Black Veil Brides sound ferocious and locked in on “My Vow,” the second single from their highly-anticipated, comeback album, ‘Vale.’

The brief “My Vow” was the second single released in advance of Vale (January 12, 2018). It also happens to be the ninth track on the album. Vale is the highly-anticipated comeback album by rock band Black Veil Brides. Prior to Vale, the L.A. based metalcore collective has been missing-in-action for more than three years (Black Veil Brides, Fall 2014). Notably, Andy Black (aka Six, Biersack, etc.) released an underrated solo album between the band’s albums (The Shadow Side, 2016). But the focus is on the enjoyable single at hand.

“Freedom is pain of another day / As I hear a hollow voice I am running away.” “My Vow” gets straight to the point, initiating with a ‘balls to the wall’ sentiment.  The music is amped up – well, the guitars of course. Andy Six exhibits angst, grit, and toughness, singing as if his life depended on it.

“Take no blame for my past mistakes / I am living with hate, f**king with fate.”

He sounds as if both fists are pumped directly to the skies.  Like many songs, despite the strength of the verses, the crowning achievement is the verse, summing up things.

“This is the time (the time) we kill (we kill) / And fight to find a savior / The soul (the soul) we say (we say) / We’re reckless and in danger / Ooh, ooh / What’s lost is found / This is my vow!”

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, “My Vow” packs quite a mighty punch to clock in under three minutes.  The tempo is quick, Andy Six is turned-up, while Black Veil Brides as a unit are locked in.  Dark guitars, vocals pushed to the limit, and “fight to find a savior” – Amen, methinks.
