Fifty Shades Freed © RepublicSinger-songwriter Bishop Briggs serves up a strong cover of the INXS classic, “Never Tear Us Apart,” which appears on the ‘Fifty Shades Freed’ soundtrack.

Thanks to the talented singer-songwriter Bishop Briggs, INXS gem “Never Tear Us Apart” gets new life. Briggs covers the classic on the Fifty Shades Freed original motion picture soundtrack. In advance of the release of the soundtrack to Fifty Shades Freed (arrives February 9, 2018), a number of compelling singles have been released.

The original “Never Tear Us Apart” appeared as the eighth track on INXS’ 1987 album, Kick. Interestingly, legendary frontman Michael Hutchence possessed a slightly lighter vocal tone compared to Briggs’. Other contrasts include a different key and slightly slower tempo.  The original is nearly ten seconds shorter than the cover, thanks to slightly contrasting tempi. Focusing exclusively on Briggs’ take, she showcases her robust, expressive, and powerful instrument.  From start to finish, she exhibits supreme command of this record. For anyone unfamiliar with the INXS version – quite possible for younger folks who purchase or stream the soundtrack – it’s incredibly impressive.

Final Thoughts

Per the headline, Bishop Briggs delivers a strong cover of “Never Tear Us Apart.” Michael Hutchence would be proud.
