ell, SCANNING THE CHARTS 📉 is just what it says it is.  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye. This column isn’t extensive, but rather short and sweet.  This week, I picked out five notable observations from the Billboard 200 📉,  and five observations from the Billboard Hot 100 📉, with 🎙 Billie Eilish debuting at no. 1 on the Billboard 200 and The Kid LAROI/ Justin Bieber ascending to no. 1 on the Hot 100.

Billboard 200 📉

💭 As expected, 🎙 Billie Eilish earns her second no. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with 💿 Happier Than Ever.  Eilish knocks last week’s no. 1, 💿 F*CK LOVE 3: OVER YOU, courtesy of 🎙 The Kid LAROI, to no. 2.

💭 🎙 Prince debuts respectably at no. 4 with his posthumously released album, 💿 Welcome 2 America

💭 The final debut in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 comes courtesy of 🎙 Isaiah Rashad. The Memphis rapper sees his third album, 💿 The House is Burning, debut at no. 7.

💭 Several other debuts graced the top 40 of the charts including 🎙 Logic (💿 Bobby Tarantino III, no. 26) and 🎙 Bleachers (💿 Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night, no. 27). The no. 26 start is a low mark for Logic following the no. 2 debut of his previous studio album, 💿 No Pressure.

💭 Throughout the remainder of the Billboard 200, there are some other noteworthy debuts.  Tink bows at no. 54 with 💿 Heat of the MomentNEEDTOBREATHE arrive at no. 56 with 💿 Into the Mystery.  Parker McCollum lands at no. 60 with 💿 Gold Chain Cowboy, while Durand Jones & The Indications joint the party at no. 127 with 💿 Private Space.

Billboard Hot 100 📉

💭 🎙 BTS has been dethroned – no more 🎵 “Butter” at no. 1 (it drops to no. 4).  🎙 The Kid LAROI and 🎙 Justin Bieber ascend from no. 4 to no. 1 with brief, entertaining single, 🎵 “Stay”

💭 🎙 Billie Eilish, expectedly, impacts the Billboard Hot 100 following the no. 1 debut of 💿 Happier Than Ever. Her highest charting debuting single is 🎵 “Happier Than Ever”.  The next highest newbie from Eilish doesn’t arrive unto no. 69 (🎵 “Getting Older”)

💭 🎙 Silk Sonic are still making an impact with former no. 1 hit, 🎵 “Leave the Door Open” (no. 13 this week), but 🎵 “Skate” gets some love with its no. 14 bow.

💭 🎙 Aventura and 🎙 Bad Bunny debut at no. 37 with 🎵 “Volvi”.

💭 Unsurprisingly, with 💿 The House is Burning hitting the top 10 on this week’s Billboard 200, 🎙 Isaiah Rashad also sees some action on the Hot 100. 🎵 “From the Garden”, featuring 🎙 Lil Uzi Vert, debuts at no. 99.
