Drake won’t be stopped.  For an 11th nonconsecutive week, Views sits at no. 1, holding off NEEDTOBREATHE (HARDLOVE) from the top spot.

For an 11th nonconsecutive week, Drake is the king of the Billboard 200.  Views may be down in numbers, but this week, it easily earned the no. 1 spot. 89,000 units aren’t particularly impressive, but, the competition wasn’t “up to snuff.”

Once again, Drake held off another artist from the no. 1 spot. Unfortunately for NEEDTOBREATHE (HARDLOVE), the band only mustered up 50,000 units.  50K was good enough for no. 2, somehow. 92% of that total were pure sales. Even more shocking is the fact that NEEDTOBREATHE sold the most albums this week. Considering that total was a mere 46,000 copies, it’s not a particularly impressive feat…NO SHADE.

Beyond NEEDTOBREATHE, only one other album debuts in the top 10 this week.  That would be Kidz Bop 32, which lands at no. 9 moving 29,000 units.  Most of that unimpressive total was pure sales, for what it’s worth.  Maybe more shocking than the lackadaisical sales is the fact that Kid Bop Kidz are still a thing…just saying!

The Tried and True

The remainder of the top 10 is familiar. Twenty One Pilots continues to dominate the top five. Blurryface, which was released back in May 2015, moves up to no. 3 this week. Rihanna (Anti), Hamilton, Adele (25) and Beyoncé (Lemonade) continue to sit pretty.  ScHoolboy Q has the worst week of the bunch, as Blank Face LP slips from no. 2 to no. 10. Expectedly, Q’s numbers are modest.  One album re-enters the top 10, though calling the reentry Epic AF is only half-accurate – see what I did there?

Who’s Got Next?

Who’s got next on the BB200? Gucci Mane’s comeback album, Everybody Looking, should make an impact.  The question is, how impactful can Gucci be? Does he have enough in the tank to stop Drake? Other albums were released from July 22 that should debut on the Billboard 200, BUT, the week wasn’t the most prolific in regards to notable releases.
