“Stalker, stalker, one day I’ll probably fucking kill her, killer her…” Whoa – hold up there 🎙 Josh Katz! What the actually ForUnderConsentoftheKing is going on in your head?  🎵 “Stalker,” a highlight from 💿 This is How the World Ends, the sophomore album by Los Angeles rock band 🎙 Badflower, finds the front man unhinged.  And guess what, we love it when Josh Katz is unhinged! Think of “Stalker” as being something of a successor to 🎵 “x ANA x”, a gem from the band’s debut album (💿 Ok, I’m Sick, 2019).

“So what? I’m good for nothing
You stupid bitch, I bet you never saw me coming
Am I supposed to be chill when Chad rails you?
His big cock, his big hands, his jawbone, his trust fund
His small brains and his intellect.”

Oy vey! “Stalker” is wild, period. The unhinged Katz perfectly embodies the stalker he sings about.  Like much of This is How the World Ends – and Badflower’s music in general – the profanity/dirty words are out of control, the energy out of this world, and the music loud and in your face. Clearly, on the excerpted verse, Josh’s character, a geek, envies the dumb jock with big dick energy who “gets ass” anytime with anyone he wants.  Things grow more unhinged on the second verse, where Josh wants to kill those who are stifling him as well as himself – my, my, my! “I’m an incel, and it’s hell, I should be in a cell,” he asserts.  Basically, he has a hatred for everyone particularly women because they don’t date let alone have sex with him.

Final Thoughts 💭

As creepy and disturbing as “Stalker” is, is the scenario far-fetched? No! Remember Elliot Rodger? I’d prefer not to, but clearly, the mind can be a dangerous, murderous thing.  Worth highlighting however, Josh Katz does make you consider the loneliness such a person feels.
