SCANNING THE CHARTS is just what it says it is.  I, the quirky founder and do-it-all at The Musical Hype scans through the Billboard Charts and picks out things that catch my eye.  To reiterate what I said last week (Ariana Grande “Positions” Herself at No. 1), this column won’t be extensive, but rather short and sweet, keeping that 💩 moving.  This week, I picked out SIX notable observations 🔎 from the Billboard 200, and FOUR observations 🔎 from the Billboard Hot 100, with 🎙 Ariana Grande ‘positioning’ herself with her fifth no. 1 album on the Billboard 200, 💿 Positions.

Billboard 200

💭 The biggest headline of the Billboard 200 is clearly🎙 Ariana Grande ‘positioning’ herself with her fifth no. 1 album, 💿 Positions. Per Keith Caulfield of Billboard, Grande moved 174,000 units of Positions, which is definitely respectable in this day and age. ‘

💭 A ways behind Ari (regarding units moved) is 💿 Pegasus by prolific rapper 🎙 Trippie Redd. The album launches at no. 2 on the BB200.

💭 🎙 Sam Smith didn’t quite get the same reaction as either Ariana or Trippie Redd if we’re being totally honest.  Sure, 💿 Love Goes launches at no. 5, but the numbers of units and album sales themselves don’t suggest much chart longevity for the Academy Award/Grammy-winning standout.  Seems like delays hurt Love Goes.

💭 A face that has been absent from the Billboard 200 ‘for a minute’ (11 years) returns to the top 10.  🎙 Busta Rhymes sees his comeback album, 💿 ELE 2: The Wrath of God, launch at no. 7 with.

💭 🎙 Queen Naija gets into the debut action as well. 💿 Missunderstood starts at no. 9.

💭 Rapper 🎙 King Von was shot and killed on Friday, November 6 at the age of 26.  He impacts the BB200 posthumously as 💿 Welcome to O’Block debuts at no. 13, the final debut in the top 20 of the chart.  Also, worth noting, 🎙 Bring Me the Horizon scored a top 50 debut with 💿 Post Human: Survival Horror at no. 46.

Billboard Hot 100

💭 🎙 After slipping to no. 3 last week, 🎙 24kGoldn and 🎙 Iann Dior are in a much better ‘mood’ as 🎵 “Mood” returns to no. 1.

💭 After debuting at no. 1 on the Hot 100 last week, 🎙 Ariana sees 🎵 “Positions” slip to no. 2. Meanwhile, a number of her songs debut on throughout the Hot 100 including 🎵 “34+35” (no. 8), 🎵 “Motive” (no. 32), and 🎵 “Off the Table” (no. 35).

💭 🎙 Bad Bunny and 🎙Jhay Cortez debut at no. 9 with their latest single, 🎵 “Dakiti.”

💭 🎙 Luke Combs didn’t slip down the charts like Ariana Grande did, regarding his Hot 100 Songs hit. 🎵 “Forever After All,” from the deluxe edition of 💿 What You See is What You Get, slides from no. 2 to no 18 in its second week on the charts.
