On 3BOPS, we are totally dedicated to keeping things L-I-T-E! Similar to 5ive Songs, there’s a topic and a short blurb, only with THREE songs instead of FIVE. Yes, it’s a playlist, but it’s a miniature playlist that shouldn’t take much time to consume. On this edition of 3BOPS, we select three awesome songs that are associated with the word, ANYONE.
1. Justin Bieber, “Anyone”
🎵 “Anyone” • 🏷 Def Jam • 📅 2021
Since this is about Bieber, well, he sounds solid, singing in his middle register on the verses, while also dipping into his upper register (chorus) and dropping some falsetto. Thematically, he focuses on true love, specifically his wife, Hailey. Honestly, the reflective chorus says it all: “That you, are the only one I’ll ever love / Yeah, you, if it’s not you, it’s not anyone.” Point made and taken Justin.
2. Demi Lovato, “Anyone”
🎵 “Anyone” • 🏷 Island • 📅 2020
Keeping things simple, “Anyone” finds Lovato singing, accompanied by piano. This stripped sound is perfect for such a personal song, putting more weight on the vocals and of course the lyrics. Lovato shows off spirit, soulfulness, and most of all, channels that cry for help musically. She’s searched everywhere for help, feeling all alone, something she makes crystal clear on the chorus: “Anyone, please send anyone / Lord, is there anyone?” “Anyone” is nothing short of moving

3. Father John Misty, “We’re Only People (And There’s Not Much Anyone Can Do About That)”
💿 God’s Favorite Customer • 🏷 Sub Pop • 📅 2018
On this five-minute number, Josh Tillman reflects on how flawed all people are. “People, we know so little about ourselves,” he sings on the first verse, continuing, “But just enough to wanna be nearly anybody else / How does that add up?” Truly, we – people – all have our fair share of issues. Facts! Ultimately, this is another awesome song from one of the best songwriters of our time.
