Anusha, Burden | Track Review 🎵

Singer/songwriter Anusha shines on her single, “Burden” bringing artistry, authenticity, and thought-provoking songwriting. 

“Is it shyness? / Or cowardice? / Do they intercept? Will you at least mourn the death of me? I won’t hold my breath.” Wow – what thought-provoking lyricism! Lots of musicians who release music every day – an understatement. Arguably, it’s easier than ever to self-release music into the world.  That said, it takes a truly special musician to showcase artistry and authenticity – that’s next level.  When 🎙 Anusha sings, you can feel that she’s an artist who has nailed down and understands the authenticity piece.  The gifted singer/songwriter, who became sick and disabled in 2020, has both endured and overcome a lot.  Her resolve is clear on her latest musical offering, 🎵 “Burden”, which is unlike anything I’d personally heard in 2023. Of “Burden,” Anusha asserts, “This song is for those who still practice COVID precautions. Who have to navigate friendships and risk losing them because they don’t value your life.” MIC 🎤 DROP 💧 moment!

Honestly, “Burden” might be best described as just that – a song that is a gargantuan MIC 🎤 DROP 💧 moment.  The songwriting, a huge selling point, is honest, poetic, and real – authentic, authentic, authentic. Perhaps what stands out even more is Anusha herself.  Ooh wee – her vocals are absolutely stunning ✨.  She sounds fabulous in her lower register, with her upper register sounding utterly sublime,  truly popping out during that meaningful chorus.  Adding to the pros of the song is the melody. It is tuneful from an initial listen, but grows even more tuneful  after a couple of listens, where more magic is revealed each and every time.  From a production standpoint, there are some terrific musical cues in play – love those keys! It sounds idiomatic of the singer/songwriter, alternative realm of music.  The sound and production are a bit raw, but this rawness truly fits the emotion, theme, and vibe of the song.  Listening to 🎵 “Burden”, this terrific offering from Anusha is no burden at all!
