Anti-Flag, American Fall © SpinefarmAnti-Flag returns politically-charged up on “American Attraction,” the promo single from their new, November studio album, ‘American Fall.’

Ah, a song for times like these. And man, oh man, aren’t they some times? That’s exactly what Anti-Flag have in mind on their new single, “American Attraction.” “American Attraction” serves as the promo single for the band’s upcoming album, American Fall.  Safe to say, this isn’t Donald Trump-friendly material.  Conservatives, republicans, and the alt-right won’t be happy.  If you’re a progressive, you’ll be all smiles.

There’s plenty of pros.  First and foremost is the aggressive sound.  “American Attraction” is chocked full of guitars.  Naturally, those six-stringed godsends are biting, distorted, and gritty, in the punk style. The vocals (Justin Sane) also stand out.  They’re gritty, like the guitars, filled with angst, energy, and a ton of intensity.  Adding to the excellence is the chorus, which is catchy AF.  The first time you hear it, it sticks.

“I got that gun, got that drug / I’ve got everything you want / I got that bomb, got that blood / I’ve got everything I’m not / It’s the American attraction / It’s the American attraction.”

The most notable cons about “American Attraction” affect you if you’re republican or a Trump supporter.  Does Anti-Flag directly mention 45? No, but read into things, or merely check out the album cover art, and it’s clear the Pennsylvanian band isn’t with him. Besides being politically-tinged, which is expected of this particular band, the biggest con is the fact that less than three minutes of song is bestowed upon us.  Can you say, “Summer Bummer?”

Final Thoughts

All in all, Anti-Flag has a winner on its hands with “American Attraction.” Furthermore, American Fall should be a truly compelling studio album. After all, the band has ample real-life material to work with.  And to think, at press time, it’s only been seven months.  Sigh.
