“Ican build your heart an army / Don’t gotta do this all by yourself.” That is good to know, 🎙 Alicia Keys! It is always great to have support, especially in the midst of hardship! On 🎵 “Lifeline”, a highlight from the original motion picture, The Color Purple (based on the Broadway music), Keys is willing to be a savior of sorts. She acknowledges the world is tough place in the first verse. In the second, she mentions “Highs and lows,” an accurate description of life, adding, “Reach your hand out in the dark / And I’ll meet you halfway.” The takeaway served up by Keys, who penned this uplifting song is being a caring and supportive friend.
