Track Review: Timeflies, ‘Something Wrong’
These days, it’s not the least bit unusual to hear pop music mixed with various other styles, specifically urban and electronic music. Timeflies masters the incorporation of numerous styles on latest single, “Something Wrong.” Initially, this critic shied away from reviewing “Something Wrong.” After listening, the reward would’ve been too much to miss out on!
“Something Wrong” features a nice opening with piano chords. Ultimately, it features a standard, archetypical harmonic progression. The vocals are incredibly clear on the first verse. Overall, the vocal production is a plus.
The pre-chorus is rapped, contrasting the singing in tone. The rhymes are agile and biting.
The first pre-chorus concludes with a bang:
“Haven’t done it perfect, got some mistakes, I confess / bring your brooms, it’s a motherf*cking mess”
Expectedly, the chorus is catchy as albeit:
“Did I do something wrong this time? / Did I give you what you want? Well alright, / Did I do something wrong this time? / I gotta stop asking you, there’s just something I have to do / I’m do it all wrong.”
The second rapped portion – pre-chorus no. 2 – is filled with profanity. Call it hardnosed AF:
“Look, we did this all on our own, don’t need anyone else / f*ck all of your help, sh*t, we gon’ do this all by ourself / we’re the CEO , CFO, and motherf*cking president…”
Finally, the third verse is completely rapped.
All in all, “Something Wrong” is an exceptionally produced track. Timeflies successfully blend singing and rapping. Musically, the contrasts between gentler and edgy are prudent, thoughtful features.
