1. Maluma, “Booty”
💿 Papi Juancho • 🏷 Sony Latin • 📅 2020
“Booty” is the reggaeton / urbano latino equivalent to a rap/hip-hop club track. A sexy man deserves a sexy song and that’s exactly what goes down. The production is lit (🎛 The Rude Boyz) and Maluma plays up the drip and sex. Drip is cool, but the sex – I mean, the booty – is what we came here for. Basically, Maluma encourages her to shake it, twerk it, and press up on him – grinding, of course. Of course, it shouldn’t surprise you that during the song, he references them having sex (it was inevitable). My favorite lyric: “Está más dura que Cardi B dándole al twerkeo” (“She’s hotter than Cardi B when she’s twerking”). Ooh wee, she’s a 10!

2. Gucci Mane, “Big Booty”
Ft. Megan Thee Stallion
💿 Woptober II • 🏷 Atlantic • 📅 2019
“Tell the skinny hoes to point me where the thick hoes at He want a flat booty bitch, I’m not with all that I got chips for days and I got whips for weeks I bring out the fleet, and it bring out the freaks...”
🏆 Grammy-winning rapper 🎙 Megan Thee Stallion handles the sole verse. She’s unapologetic in her ‘ass’ rapping endeavors. A prime example: “Big old ass is heavy, shake that shit like jelly / Put me on your plate and slurp that shit up like spaghetti…” Wow! She adds, “I ain’t never met a ho I felt like I had to compete with, uh / This the type of booty make a nigga drop his bitch…” Perhaps her best moment references an iconic musician, water, and the TV show, Martin:
“Rollin’ like I’m Tina, pussy Aquafina Make this booty giggle like you Martin and I’m Gina, hmm...”
“Big Booty” certainly won’t change your life, but if you ever needed a booty anthem to get you through Gucci Mane and Megan Thee Stallion have you covered.

3. Thomas Rhett, “South Side”
💿 Tangled Up • 🏷 Valory • 📅 2015
“South Side” commences with the hilarious line, “Please commence shaking your south side.” Obviously, Rhett isn’t referring to a particular southern part of the actual south, but rather the butt. “South Side,” of course is incredibly silly and lacks transcendence, but that doesn’t keep the record from being entertaining. The chorus is golden:
“Now people on the left, shake your south side People on the right, shake your south side Every single girl, shake your south side All around the word, shake your south side.”
Adding to the allure is the beat and of course, the saxophone! Thank you, Thomas Rhett, for showing us that country singers can shake a$$ too!
“Shake it like salt, shake it like pepper Shake it like champagne, number one record Shake it ‘til you just can’t shake it no more Shake that thing all the way to the floor, uh.”

4. Pardison Fontaine, “Peach”
Ft. City Girls
💿 UNDER8ED • 🏷 Atlantic • 📅 2019
The peach part of “Peach” occurs on the following chorus, also performed by Pardison. As to be expected, the peach he refers to is ass – surely you weren’t really expecting fruit? “You got a peach (Peach), ass (ass), shit be looking right,” he raps, continuing, “You get to dancing in the mirror, you want some shit that get you hype.” Hmm, sounds like a booty anthem to me. This, of course, is further confirmed by Pardison as he incites ass shaking and enlists 🎙 City Girls – specifically 🎙 Yung Miami – for a guest verse. What does Yung Miami throw at us? “Let that ass hang out, bitch / All up out the window, screaming, ‘Ow,’ bitch.” Sigh. “Peach” was produced by 🎛 Wheezy. Worth noting, however, is that the record interpolates the 🎙 Mystikal hit, 🎵 “Shake Ya Ass”, which was written and produced by 🎼✍ 🎛 The Neptunes (Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo).

5. City Girls, “Twerkulator”
🎵 “Twerkulator” • 🏷 Quality Control Music • 📅 2021
After performing the chorus, JT goes on to drop the first verse. It’s all about butt and ultimately, sex: “Right cheek, left cheek wit’ it (Woo) / Fun size, on fleek wit’ it (Uh).” There’s nothing transcendent, just twerking. Similarly, 🎙 Yung Miami speaks about those ASSets, asserting, “I’m litty, diamonds drippy, eat my pussy, that’s a quickie / I’m twerkin’, pussy poppin’ like a Cuban bitch at tootsies.” It’s clear that “Bad bitches on the paper chase” not only speaks to City Girls’ success as musicians but also ‘making it rain’ given, um, the twerking – bands and such. All the while that these highly confident and highly sexual rhymes are being dropped, the Girls are supported by sleek production by 🎛 Mr. Hank. “While this ‘ass’ anthem won’t educate you, you can join City Girls and shake yours too.

6. Jennifer Lopez, “Booty”
Ft. Pitbull
💿 A.K.A.• 🏷 Capitol • 📅 2014
“Booty” draws attention because of what it’s about, but this ode to the butt is simplistic to the nth degree. Yeah, it’s sexy and fun enough, but it’s also straightforward. The production (Lopez Cory Rooney, and Benny Medina) works well – no complaints there with that infectious, hard hitting beat. “All the sexy girls in the party / Go and grab a man, bring him to the dance floor,” Lopez sings on the chorus. She continues, “Go on let them jeans touch you while you’re dancing / It’s his birthday give him what he ask for.” Also joining J. Lo is none other than ‘Mr. Worldwide,’ 🏆 Grammy-winner 🎙 Pitbull. Does he ‘bark’? Well, he serves up what we’re accustomed from hearing, basically (“She’s got the booty that’ll swallow a thong”).

7. Das Racist, “Booty in the Air”
💿 Relax • 🏷 Greedhead Music • 📅 2011
Kool A.D. isn’t the only one about that bum! 🎙 Heems sings on the second verse, hilariously asserting:
“She said, she said, ‘Nobody’s got a booty like mine,’ I said, ‘You’re right, your booty’s my lifeline.”
The lyrics speak for themselves, honestly. “Booty in the Air” goes dumb – intentionally. Das Racist parody rap songs about butts, period. There’s lots and lots of rap songs about butts…
8. A$AP Ferg, “Butt Naked”
Ft. Rico Nasty
💿 Floor Seats • 🏷 RCA • 📅 2019
Given the name of the song, it’s not surprising that A$AP Ferg drops some sexual bars. A prime example is on the second verse:
“She got the mean glutes I put her right on my coupe We don’t make it to the room Attached to the ass I’m like glue.”
Wow, the man is horny AF! It isn’t all about getting butt naked though. Ferg throws in some drip for good measure. As for Rico Nasty, well, she’s confident in her own right. Also, unapologetic of course, easily matching the energy brought by Ferg. Among her best lines: “They flashin’ they titties I’m on the stage / They give me lemons, made lemonade.” Woo!

9. T-Pain, “Booty Wurk (One Cheek at a Time)”
Ft. Joey Galaxy
💿 Happy Hour: The Greatest Hits • 🏷 RCA • 📅 2014
Surprisingly, these well-produced (🎛 Young Fyre) ‘cheeks’ never made a studio album. That’s right, this bubble butt which T-Pain pays ode appears only on his 💿 Happy Hour: The Greatest Hits released in late 2014. Again, can’t emphasize the libidinous nature of this ASSets cut, capped off by the excerpted booty-loving lyric.
“Now let me see that booty work, booty work ...Left cheek, right cheek, left cheek, right cheek...”
10. 2 Chainz, “Quarantine Thick”
Ft. Latto
💿 So Help Me God! • 🏷 Gamebread / Def Jam • 📅 2020
“Quarantine Thick” features banging southern rap production courtesy of 🎛 Yung Lan. It’s minimal – basically, a keyboard line and hard-hitting drums. 2 Chainz is as absurd as ever. He’s funny, raunchy, and sexed TF up. A prime example: “I had that pussy pissin’ once I hit that kidney.” Following his verse, we’re treated to a catchy chorus, highlighting the newly acquired thickness. 2 Chainz encourages her to “Shake, shake, shake, shake, shake it fast.” Mulatto plays off the sex he throws out on the first verse, coming off equally sexed-up. A prime example: “Quarantine thick, he tryna get me lipo (ooh) / Pussy holy water, put that on the Bible.” Blasphemy I say – BLASPHEMY! Even if she’s ‘unrefined,’ you’ve gotta love her quick, agile flow and the mad attitude she brings to the table. “Quarantine Thick” kicks ass! Seemed like the appropriate word choice.
11. R. Kelly, “Feelin’ On Yo Booty”
💿 TP-2.com • 🏷 Zomba • 📅 2000
🎵 “Feelin’ On Yo Booty” (💿 TP-2.com, 2000) is tamer for R., believe it or not. Later in his career, Kelly would sing about cunnilingus (🎵 “Legs Shakin’”) and ruin Oreos (🎵 “Cookie”) on his overtly sexual 💿 Black Panties album. “Feelin’ On Yo Booty” is lush and relaxed in sound and vibe, but still risqué and suggestive. He doesn’t get too perverted or overdo his fantasies/innuendo here, but verse two confirms Kelly’s dirty thoughts. the “spending” part, the “weave,” and the blasphemous “Lord have mercy” regarding the sinful.
“Now your body’s got me feelin’ like spending With a back room I could come to live in And your hair weave looking kind of pretty The way you back it up on me Lord have mercy.”
12. Destiny’s Child “Bootylicious”
💿 Survivor • 🏷 Sony • 📅 2001
🎵 “Bootylicious” was a big hit from the trio’s 2001 album, 💿 Survivor. Survivor marked the penultimate Destiny’s Child album, prior to solo endeavors by 🎙 Kelly Rowland (💿 Simply Deep, 2002), 🎙 Michelle Williams (💿 Heart to Yours, 2002), and, most successfully, 🎙 Beyoncé (💿 Dangerously in Love, 2003). Notably, “Bootylicious” samples the 1981 🎙 Stevie Nicks classic, 🎵 “Edge of Seventeen”. Knicks even appears in the music video, with her guitar. Focusing on “Bootylicious,” since the booty is what we call came for, the girls are suggestive throughout the course of the song. They don’t get explicit mind you, but anytime the focus is on the assets (key syllable ass-), what do you expect? As Beyoncé asserts, “By the looks I got you shook up and scared of me / Buckle your seatbelt, it’s time for takeoff.” Woo!
13. The-Dream & Lil Jon, “Let Me See the Booty”
💿 Love Vs Money • 🏷 The Island Def Jam Music Group • 📅 2009
As the excerpted lyrics suggest, The-Dream is blunt AF about the butt and bigger picture, sex. Need the receipts, Whitney? Here’s a prime example: “Enough about me, let’s talk about you / Put it on my dick, then drop it to my shoe.” Day-um! This is the perfect club anthem for grinding and twerking even more than a decade after its release. Honestly, has the booty anthem evolved much from this? Nah, no when you still hear about “a small waste” but desire that “ass-butt.” This is objectification central – what’s new?
14. Eminem, “Ass Like That”
💿 Encore • 🏷 Shady / Aftermath • 📅 2004
“Ass Like That” appears on Marshall’s 2004 album, 💿 Encore. Of course, the song isn’t innocent as Eminem, via Triumph, the Comic Insult Dog, is a pervert, and the police are there to arrest him 🤦.
“Think someone’s at the door, but I don’t think I’ma answer Police sayin ‘freeze’... What do you mean, freeze Please, I’m a human being, I have needs I’m not done, not ‘til I’m finished peeing I am not resisting arrest, I am agreeing Mr. Officer, I’m already on my knees I can’t get on the ground any further, it’s impossible for me.”
OH, BROTHER! There’s more of course, with R. Kelly shade, sketchy Asian lyrics, objectifying Jessica Simpson, Mary-Kate and Ashley, and Hilary Duff… “Ass Like That” is a mess, period. Still, the production (🎛 Dr. Dre and 🎛 Mike Elizondo) is superb and as crude as the song is, it’s entertaining.
15. Prince, “Wonderful Ass”
💿 Purple Rain Deluxe (Expanded Edition) • 🏷 Warner • 📅 2017
It’s no secret what 🎙 Prince refers to on 🎵 “Wonderful Ass,” a cut appearing on the expanded edition of his iconic 💿 Purple Rain album – the BOOTY. Notably, at the time, the biggest ‘controversy’ of Purple Rain was undoubtedly a reference to masturbation in 🎵 “Darlin Nikki”. Of course, beyond “Darlin Nikki,” ‘The Purple One’ has been far more explicit…
“Wonderful Ass” only furthers the Purple One’s penchant for sex back in the day. Notably, besides being so complimentary about booty, the expanded edition of Purple Rain features other provocative songs that you can check out for yourself: 🎵 “Velvet Kitty Cat”, 🎵 “Electric Intercourse”, and more explicitly, 🎵 “We Can Fuck”. Wow!
