That statement, nor sex itself, really needs further explanation.  Songs that incorporate the world’s beloved pastime 😈 are incredibly popular.  Getting in the mood to DO THA DO is, well, nearly as fun as DOING THA DO, if you catch my drift. 1. BLK ODYSSY, “Honeysuckle Neckbone”

💿 DIAMONDS & FREAKS • 🏷 BLK ODYSSY / EMPIRE • 🗓 2023

“Now she screaming fuck me / She used to love me.” At one time, she loved 🎙 BLK ODYSSY, or so he asserts on the soulful 🎵 “Honeysuckle Neckbone” from his 2023 LP, 💿 DIAMONDS & FREAKS. Even at his worst on this 🎙 Bootsy Collins assisted joint – “Even when I was ugly / My-my nose was running” – she loved him. But now it’s over and BLK ODYSSY can’t stand it.  He reminisces to their defunct relationship, heightened by the fact that she’s with someone else and “Got me locked up in my brain, just free me.” Sigh, we’ve all been there, and it seems that the most intimate memories may be the most potent. 

The chorus is marvelous, perfectly capturing how taken BLK ODYSSY is with his ex: “Candy / (Baby, ooh I like the way) / Ooh you taste like / … (Baby, brown sugar honey)…” In the second verse, he calls her up, wanting her back.  He’s hooked up, but “ain’t like they pussy” – he wants You.  He’s sure of it: “I hate to see you frown but I can’t help but notice / You’d find that nigga you was looking for if you just focus (I’m right here).” In the bridge he asks for forgiveness, all for the sake of… fill in the ellipsis.  Even in a heartbroken, self-described frantic state, 🎵 “Honeysuckle Neckbone” is incredibly sexy.  BLK ODYSSEY sings, raps, and obviously, the temperature rises when he mentions sensual matters.  Furthermore, the production is epic. Attempting to reconcile with an ex never sounded sexier!

2. Ludacris, “Splash Waterfalls”

💿 Chicken – N – Beer • 🏷 The Island Def Jam Music Group • 🗓 2003 

“They want it nice and slow, kiss ‘em from head to toe / Relax and let it go – say it (make love to me),” 🎙 Ludacris raps in the first verse of his freaky hit single, 🎵 “Splash Waterfalls”. Ooh-wee, child! “Splash Waterfalls,” a former top-10 hit (no. 6) on the Billboard Hot 100, graces his 2003 critically-acclaimed album, 💿 Chicken – N – Beer. He continues spitting, “They want it now and fast, grabbin’ and smackin’ ass / You gotta make it last – what? (fuck, me!).” Throughout this colorful rap record, Ludacris balances refined, romantic vibes (“make love to me”), and a freakier, more unapologetic ones (“fuck me”).  Of course, with a Ludacris song, refined is relative.

The sound of “Splash Waterfalls” (production by 🎛 Icedrake), is one of many selling points. Honestly, it sounds sexual, regardless of the so-called balance between love and straight up, passionate sex. Of course, Ludacris’ hardcore sex bars are the most interesting… explicit…eyebrow-raising… horny – you get the picture. Any time that “scratches on your back” and “she’s on your sack and balls / You call her Jabberjaws” is involved, it is NSFW.  Furthermore, how is Ludacris going to compare her mouth to an animated shark 🤦‍♂️? Focusing mostly on the ‘F Me’ moments sung by 🎙 Sandy Coffee, The 🏆 Grammy-winning rapper spits about driving stick, “Do it standin’ up,” and “ropes and handcuffs.” Jesus!

3. Angie Stone, “Kiss You”

💿 Love Language • 🏷 Conjunction Entertainment / SoNo Recording Group • 🗓 2023

“Ooh, boy your lips (Boy your lips), the way they sittin’ (Sittin’) / I can’t focus, I can’t even pay attention.” 🏆 Grammy-nominated R&B singer/songwriter 🎙 Angie Stone is clearly turned TF on by this boy on 🎵 “Kiss You”, a highlight from her 10^th studio album, 💿 Love Language. She continues in the steamy pre-chorus, “I lick my lips (Lick my lips), they start to glisten (Glisten) / You wanna bite ‘em every time they’re in your vision.” Woo! So enticing! For “Kiss You,” Stone samples the 🎙 Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, 🎵 “I Miss You”.  A popular source for many contemporary R&B/neo-soul joints, with the help of the producers, “Kiss You” gets some modern swagger thanks to those epic drums anchoring things down 💪. “Kiss You” is a classy sex song. In the verses, Stone establishes the sensual vibes.  In the first, she wants his hands on her body – ooh la-la! In the second, she wishes to “go somewhere low-key and private.” Hmm, wonder why! In the third, this man has her feeling some type of way – “I find it hard to keep my composure.” Angie, a good man will do that to you… or so I’ve heard!

4. Daniel Caesar, “Homiesexual” (Ft. Ty Dolla $ign)

💿 NEVER ENOUGH • 🏷 Hollace, Inc. / Republic • 🗓 2023

So, there is word on the street, according to 🏆 Grammy-winning, Canadian R&B singer/songwriter, 🎙 Daniel Caesar.  That word is: “Heard you found someone else / To sleep next to you / Homiesexual, but girl, I ain’t judgin’.” Hmm, homiesexual? WTH, better yet, WTF? Well, the rest of the chorus of 🎵 “Homiesexual”, the 12^th track from his 2023 album, 💿 NEVER ENOUGH, provides a bit more insight into this homiesexual situation. “I know you were sick of my shit / Found yourself a bitch / One that’s celibate, but I know you’re frontin’.” Hmm 🤔, that is interesting. So basically, his ex-girlfriend is in a same-sex relationship but not in a gay sort of way? Something like that.  Urban Dictionary has some insight 😏.  

 

Anyways, over classy contemporary R&B/neo-soul production (🎛 ), Caesar sings about missing her.  Specifically, “Miss that booty clapping / Wish you were home.” Oh, sugar honey iced tea! In the first verse, he tries to convince her to come back, and ultimately, believes “I’m gon’ end up back beside you.” In other words, that homie-sexualness won’t last, according to him.  Adding to vibe, and the harmonies, 🎙 Ty Dolla $ign arrives in the second verse, complementing Caesar perfectly. He caps off the verse soulfully: “And they can never love you like I can, love you like I can / Someone said they seen you with your new man / Oh, I heard you found someone else…” Will the wooing of either Caesar or Dolla $ign be enough to win her back in a fully committed relationship? Only time will tell, but the sex part… yeah, there just might be booty clapping once again, even if its casual 😈.

5. Janelle Monáe, “Champagne Shit”

💿 The Age of Pleasure • 🏷 Wondaland Productions LLC / Bad Boy Records LLC • 🗓 2023

“These niggas ‘bout to make a whole lot of money.” WOO! Monáe adds on 🤩 🎵 “Champagne Shit”, “Don’t ask me shit about work / ‘Cause I’m on my champagne shit.”  “Champagne Shit,” a highlight from 💿 The Age of Pleasure, has no shortage of pleasure over the course of under two-and-a-half minutes.  Money is no object, where in the chorus, Monaé is “throwin’ them tips” and “She throwin’ them hips.” In the post-chorus, Monáe encourages her to “Back that ass up,” once more embracing her sexual identity 🌈. She further proclaims, “It’s all in them hip, hip, hips / She got them dimples in her back…” There is only one verse. After crying foul about the notion of work, Monáe doubles down on partying. Where vacationing required prayers for her in the past before the come up, she’s now enjoying the age of pleasure – “I’m talkin’ high heels and no shirts.” Ah, that 🎵 “Champagne Shit” is #SLAYING – quite the electrifying aesthetic and vibe.

6. Ian Abel, “Drowning”

🎵 “Drowning” • 🏷 Ian Janer • 🗓 2023 

“I see what you on with that black bandana.” WOO! Cutting straight to the chase, 🎙 Ian Abel is awesome at singing about sex, PERIOD. No worries – he is NOT drowning in the traditional sense on his single, 🎵 “Drowning”. Instead, Abel is being a naughty boy 😈. “Don’t stop, you’re in too deep / X marks the spot,” he sings in the chorus, clearly referencing being on the receiving end… He continues, “We’re going down / Boy, you’ll be drowning in me.” Do I really need to spell it out? Basically, Abel’s partner – boyfriend, FWB, one-night stand, etc. –  is inside him… DEEP… Apparently, he’s an aggressive top, at least judging by the lyrics, and the expression Abel sings with.

As aggressive as Abel’s partner may be, Abel is no less horny himself. He wants this.  A prime example: “You got me gasping for breath (damn) / I wanna bathe in your sweat (damn).” Damn, indeed! While Ian can read these guys with ease, he goes on to admit, “You desperate boys are just my type / You got the wickedness it takes to satisfy me.” My, my, my! What else can you say? 🎙 Kim Petras said it best:  🎵 “They Wanna F#¢k”. Besides masterfully exemplifying that Midnight Heat 🕛 🔥, 🎵 “Drowning” benefits from slinky sounding production by 🎛 Carey Clayton, and of course, the playful, titillating performance by Abel.

7. Syd, “Drown In It” 

💿 Fin • 🏷 The Internet / Columbia • 🗓 2017 

“Tonight, I’m gonna / Swim in it / Dive in it / Drown in it / Hide in it, babe.” Oh, really, 🎙 Syd? It doesn’t take rocket science 🚀 👨‍🔬 to figure out that 🎵 “Drown In It” (💿 Fin, 2017) is about SEX! Sure, the R&B singer referencing swimming, but “Drown In It” is the farthest thing from watersports! In only one-minute and 10 seconds, she titillates the audience with her evening plans with her girlfriend. The action verbs go beyond the excerpted lyrics as well.  Even with a short duration, prior to the sex-filled chorus, there is a verse. The verse is less sensually charged, believe it or not.  

“If you want me to / I’ll try to make it right,” Syd sings, adding, “Put it all aside for you love.”  Here, she addresses her lover, trying to put aside whatever barriers or disagreements may be inhibiting them.  Syd professes her love, seems to take responsibilities for wrongs (“It’s my pride”), and of course, ultimately prepares for, dare I say, lit makeup sex 😈 (again, the keyword is SEX). In addition to those sexy lyrics – particularly the chorus –  the backdrop is sweet and sensuous. Shout out producers 🎛 Anthony Kilhoffer and J Gramm for this satisfying ear candy.

8. Labrinth, “The Feels”

💿 Ends & Begins • 🏷 Columbia • 🗓 2023 

“I got hit by a truck, I got hit by a truck.” Initially, one might question if 🎵 “The Feels” truly feels like it is affiliated with love or sex in any regard.  Clearly, 🎙 Labrinth is experiencing something that has greatly affected him on this highlight from his 2023 album, 💿 Ends & Begins.  Has he literally been left for dead after being run over – a true hit and run? Naturally, on this ballad, he is in his feels for that reason alone.  By the pre-chorus, which recurs later, in the hands of 🎙 Zendaya, Labrinth asserts: “I got touched by God and it fucked me up / Like an electrical current coursin’ through my veins / Lightning came and hit me again.” Hmm 🤔, this is where the feels begin to feel like something different.  In the epic chorus, the euphoria is something else:    

“Now I’m in my feels   

Way up in the clouds somewhere now   

Don’t know what’s real, real    

I’m ghost, gone missin’   

I don’t even know if I’m here now   

But I’m in my feels, feels.”    

 

Zendaya confirms these feels as being romantic in the second verse.  She sings, “Now you got me intoxicated with your drug,” later adding, “The truth of it is I’m in love with you.” Her and Labrinth then collaborate in the pre-chorus and that epic chorus, with superb vocal chemistry.  The melody of “The Feels” is incredible. So is the picturesque production, with Labrinth handling the work behind the boards.  Furthermore, he wrote the song alongside 🎼 ✍ Muz. The result is a steamy song that is perfect for the bedroom.

9. Janet Jackson, “Warmth”

💿 Damita Jo • 🏷 Black Doll Inc / Virgin • 🗓 2004 

“There’s no place warmer than my mouth” Timing was not 🎙 Janet Jackson’s friend in 2004. The Superbowl nipple incident essentially stalled the R&B star’s career. Sure, Jackson would still have success, but not to the same degree as in the past.  💿 Damita Jo, a risqué, highly sexual album, suffered in sales relative to her previous album (💿 All For You, 2001), though managed to secure platinum certification.  That said, the sexual imagery of Damita Jo did Jackson no favors. To speak to how explicit the album was, two songs, 🎵 “Warmth” and 🎵 “Moist” were excluded from the amended version.  Now, approaching 20 years later, we revisit that warmth.   

So, how do you sum up “Warmth” respectably? It’s a lush R&B ballad about… fellatio… oral sex… It is clearly NSFW.  The risqué nature occurs long before Jackson utters the statement about the warmth of her mouth 😏. “My hands wrapped around / Strokin’, up and down / (Is this all for me?) / But nothing can compare to the warmth of my mouth.” Holy shee-it, Janet! So, Basically, it begins with stimulation via the hands.  The size satisfies Jackson (she goes on to say, “it’s so big”), but she moves on from the touch to… well… sucking. The chorus is not the only hotness on “Warmth.” In the verse, Janet wastes no time arousing him: “Kissin’ on your neck, rubbin’ on your leg / Slide a little further up, I feel you get erect…” Gah-day-um, girl! “Breathin’ on your chest, so anxious to touch it / Ooh, my mouth is getting wet.” More could be said, but honestly, Jackson reveals her cards early on.  The good news is, well, 🎵 “Warmth” in this context is, um, fun… satisfying… a means of passionate release… We’ll leave it there.

10. XILLAN, “Oh Happy Day”

🎵 “Oh Happy Day” • 🏷 XILLAN • 🗓 2023

Typically, when you think of 🎵 “Oh Happy Day”, it is the beloved, gospel classic by 🎙 The Edwin Hawkins Singers 👏.  In the hands of Surinamese, Netherlands based musician 🎙 XILLAN (Xillan Macrooy), however, his 🎵 “OH HAPPY DAY” is NOT a gospel record. In XILLAN’s hands, “Oh Happy Day” is sexual – ooh-la-la. The self-described musician, writer, and storyteller proudly asserts, repeatedly, “I fucked my shame away / Oh happy day.” WOO! Some church folks might take offense to this happy day, one that involves the f-bomb, especially in a sexual context 😈. But, if you are open-minded, you see both a bigger message/picture, as well as a marvelous sex song!

XILLAN is liberated on “Oh Happy Day,” a fact that should not be neglected.  Sure, he is radiating that Midnight Heat 🕛 🔥, but he has also rid of shame.  In an IG post leading up to the release of “OH HAPPY DAY,” he highlights the toxicity of shame.  Shame is huge in the LGBTQ+ community, with internalized homophobia, as well as homophobia in general.  Sometimes, that shame comes within ones family and friends.  In this aesthetically pleasing gem that titillates given XILLAN’s declaration, as well as his sexy voice (including a ripe falsetto) and the sweet, ear-catching production (Macrooy and 🎛 Bastian Benjamin), XILLAN embraces pleasure sans shame.  Basically, he’s ridding of stigmas and what anybody else thinks in favor of living – enjoying the pleasures of life and love without constraints.  Ah, what a sweet little LGBTQ/Midnight Heat combo!

11. Xavier Omär, “want/need”

💿 if You Feel • 🏷 RCA • 🗓 2020

“Tell me if it ain’t good enough for you, babe / Woo! Sometimes, cool, sexy things come in small packages.  For R&B artist 🎙 Xavier Omär, his song 🎵 “want/need” doesn’t even run two minutes long.  That’s not a lot of song, but it is sufficient for the sexual vibes he captures. This brief gem from his 2020 album, 💿 if You Feel, superbly produced by 🎛 Iophiile, gets a lift from a 1996 Dru Hill sample, 🎵 “Tell Me”.  This is a prime example where the sample is in plain sight, and it works absolutely fabulously.  Much of the chorus is lifted directly from Dru Hill, forming the core of the theme (“Tell me what you want / Tell what you need”).  In the first iteration, Omär fittingly shouts outs the “90 babies.”

Of course, Xavier puts in his most work in the sole verse of “want/need.”  That work of course involves ‘doing the do,’ if you catch my drift 😈.  “Switch positions and listen you breathin’ a little different, your body always gon’ tell me,” Omär asserts at one point.  God is NOT pleased later as he states, “It’s Sunday mornin’ and we messed around and miss the service / And still tryna find wherever your shirt is.” Holy hell, Xavier! “God bless them braids, eyes rollin’, glazed / And we can run it back, if the feelin’ emerges…” WOO! To reiterate, cool, sex things come in small packages and this joint right here, 🎵 “want/need” is a surefire vibe, perfect for S meets E, then they X 😈!!!

12. d4vd, “Sleep Well”

💿 Petals to Thorns • 🏷 Darkroom / Interscope • 🗓 2023 

Love is complicated – quite the understatement. For 🎙 d4vd (David Burke), it appears to be immensely complicated on his single, 🎵 “Sleep Well”. Clearly on this smooth ballad, the talented 18-year-old singer is in love with someone.  The problem is that this person (1) is not in love with him anymore or (2) was never in love with him, and he is just fantasizing about love with  this person.  Backed by marvelous production by 🎛 Spencer Stewart and 🎛 STINT, rather than titillate, d4vd makes you (1) want to cry given the lack of a relationship or (2) make out and make love to that special or imaginary somebody in your life 😈 🔥. 

Regardless of how you interpret “Sleep Well,” the romance is pronounced, unrequited or not. “Do you think about me every night? / Before you go to sleep,” d4vd inquires in the first verse.  In the second, he admits his faults, but also sells himself as a respectable guy whom she can depend on and most of all, LOVE. “It doesn’t matter what you thought of me then / But what you think of me now,” he asserts, adding, “We haven’t always seen eye to eye / But right now, won’t you look at mine.” Sigh, oh, the plight of love! Of course, it is the centerpiece, the chorus, that makes you want to spend intimate time with that extra special somebody:  

“I’m here for you still 

And even if you don’t think that I’m near 

I’ll still be right next to you, my dear 

And the way you make me feel 

Has the power to make the whole world stand still 

Who’s to say that our love ain’t real?”

Well, the music video 🎶📼, of course, but aside from that, you hope things work out for d4vd, and anyone experiencing this situation on the marvelous 🎵 “Sleep Well”.

13. Prince & The New Power Generation, “I Wanna Melt with U”

💿 Love Symbol • 🏷 NPG Records, Inc. / Legacy • 📅 1992 

“Slow and slippery, groovy / If we bathe in each other’s hips / In other words, get close enough to the stick / And I’ll melt with you.” Ooh, wee! 🎙 Prince was a freak… at least, prior to 💿 Musicology (2004).  Another pristine example, that occurs prior: “Don’t look now, but there’s a river of blood / You must have been a virgin / What am I guilt of?” Holy shiitake mushrooms 🍄! On his 1992 LP, 💿 Love Symbol, 🎙 Prince & The New Power Generation asserted, 🎵 “I Wanna Melt with U”.  The melting, of course, is sexual, sexual, and more S-E-X-U-A-L!  Prince doesn’t try to be too discreet if we’re being honest 😏. 

“And I’m thinking about the way that you kiss 

… And my lips just drip 

And then the hips just whip and whip and 

(I wanna melt with you).”  

The sound of “I Wanna Melt with U” is a vibe, period.  The groove kicks @$$ and takes names, coupled with electrifying keys and synths. The record is a blend of dance, funk, pop, and the New Jack Swing brand of R&B prevalent at the time.  Furthermore, Prince exudes personality.  His vocals are naughty, playful, and sexy. In the breakdown section, he asserts, “Yeah, do that baby, just like a dog.” Dayummm – more like WOOF, WOOF 😈! Obviously, sex is great fuel for the fire, and he channels it into the melodies. Underrated in the Prince catalog, 🎵 “I Wanna Melt with U” is fun and sexy to the n^th degree.
